Salary: $85,000-$115,000

The Central California Asthma Collaborative (CCAC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to reducing the burden of asthma and other health disparities in the San Joaquin Valley. We have over 50 employees and 6 offices, and we continue to grow rapidly. Join our diverse, energetic staff that is passionate about serving our patients and our communities.
POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a creative, innovative and self-motivated individual to join our team and lead our fund development efforts. The Development Director’s responsibilities include providing leadership and vision to the Senior Management Team in the fund development arena. This includes developing and implementing a Fund Development plan based on the identified needs and priorities of the organization. In close coordination with the Senior Management Team, this position will be responsible for leading fundraising efforts including but not limited to: grant writing, philanthropic and corporate relationship building, and planning for other fund development initiatives as appropriate. This is a new position in a fast-paced, quickly growing organization.
Essential Responsibilities
Fundraising and Public Relations (50%)
• Maintain a portfolio of foundations and identify, research, and set strategies for foundations that are likely prospects for CCAC's initiatives. Apply knowledge of initiatives to identify and target prospects.
• Develop and implement an organizational fund development plan that aligns with CCAC’s strategic goals, diversifies funding streams, and supports the organization’s current and future budgets and sustainability goals.
• Develop and strengthen a culture of philanthropy throughout the organization: coordinate development activities with other facets of the organization, particularly marketing and communications. Engage, inspire and support staff and board members in their role in fund development.
• Collaborate closely with the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director to ensure budgets reflect overall fundraising strategy.
• Build external relationships and represent the organization: Develop and maintain close working relationships with the philanthropic community, donors, stakeholders, and friends of the organization. Represent CCAC at public facing events when appropriate.
• Actively manage relationships with all funders, including prospecting, the final processing of grant requests, preparing staff for funder meetings, and stewarding current relationships.
• Oversee the creation of organization-wide newsletters, videos, email updates, and other mailings and publications when appropriate. Collaborate with program staff to develop effective messaging and promotional materials.
• Utilize the organization's website, social media platforms, and other media channels for fundraising efforts.
Grants Proposal Management and Supervision (40%)
• Identify grant funding, contracts and major donor opportunities.
• In coordination with program managers and Senior Management team, lead or coordinate team in writing, submitting and managing grant proposals.
• Furnish prospective funders with supporting documents.
• Work with Program Directors and Deputy Executive Director to ensure all grant reporting is on track, occasionally participate in drafting reports.
Organizational Responsibilities (10%)
• Organizational leadership: Serve as a key member of the Leadership Team with shared responsibility for achieving the organization’s vision and goals.
• Model leadership and participation in all grassroots fundraising campaigns.
• Participate in cross-department committees and teams.
• Board of Directors: staff Board meetings, develop relationships with board members, create board engagement plans and opportunities.
• Provide support and participation for organization-wide and some regional campaign events.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
• Bachelor's Degree.
• At least five years fund development in a non-profit setting or related experience.
• Demonstrated commitment to CCAC's mission and values.
• Strong commitment to environmental justice, health access and climate equity.
• Committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• A clear record of building relationships with funders and personally securing major gifts.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Adaptable, organized and detail-oriented.
• High professional standards and ability to provide evidence of success in meeting or exceeding goals.

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well with all levels of the organization and with the public.

• Demonstrated ability to manage members of a high-functioning team and volunteers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite: Teams, Word, Excel, Google Suite and Adobe.
• Familiarity with a CRM, such as Monday.com
• Reliable transportation, valid CA driver's license, and appropriate car insurance.
• Knowledge of the environmental justice/social justice community in the San Joaquin Valley is preferred but not required.

Work Environment
• The position can be located in any of CCAC’s main regional offices in Fresno, Bakersfield or Modesto.

TRAVEL:
• Ability to travel once to twice a month regional/statewide or occasionally nationally.

DRIVING AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess a valid CADL and applicable CA mandated auto insurance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Able to work on a computer, including sitting at a desk, for extended periods of time. Able to read a computer screen. Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard.
• Able to speak clearly in English on the phone and in person and be understood by others.
• Lift up to 20 (twenty) pounds.
• COVID-19 vaccination(s) are a requirement for all CCAC staff.

AUTHORITY AND SUPERVISORY CAPACITY: Will supervise the Marketing and Communication Specialist and occasional interns. Potential to grow the development team will depend on success of the individual in this position and the needs of the organization.

ACCESS TO SENSITIVE INFORMATION: Must maintain confidentiality of personal client, organizational funding and staff information exposed to when working in files and preparing reports.
