Center for Workforce Inclusion is Hiring a Visual Information Specialist - NPS ACES Program Near Washington, DC

The Center for Workforce Inclusion is recruiting for a Virtual Information Specialist position within the Experience Service Program (ESP) through a grant administered program that provides support to the United States Department of the InteriorNational Capital Parks-East in Washington, DC.

Role and ResponsibilitiesThe position supports National Capital Parks - East in the development of visual materials for internal and external audiences. Work includes planning the visual aspects of such visual materials as photographs, illustrations, diagrams, graphs, objects, slides, and charts used in public meetings, newsletters, pamphlets, exhibits, live or video recorded speeches or lectures, and other means of communication such as web content where the general format and specific themes to be illustrated are predetermined.

  • Builds on a digital image collection (photographs, video, static and live-streaming web cameras) by site visits to NACE managed areas and attending NACE sponsored events and meetings.
  • Works directly with NACE staff and partners to maintain and develop virtual presentations, web pages (intranet/ internet) and social media sites (i.e., Twitter, Facebook, blogs) and SharePoint. Maintains a sufficient working knowledge of new and emerging technologies and incorporates into products created.
  • Plans the visual aspects of printed materials such as newsletters, pamphlets, posters, handouts, activity schedules, bulletins, technical reports, trip planners, periodicals and other similar material which is produced by a printing process. Recommends passages to be illustrated, selected illustrative material to be used and plans the appearance of each page.
  • Designs and displays visual communication aspects of speeches, briefings and training materials through the use of photos, slides, charts, posters, and other appropriate means. Considers cost associated with preparation of visual material and equipment to balance against project objectives. Selects visual materials (photographs, illustrations, maps, charts, diagrams, etc.) to support text and enhance aesthetic appeal of publications and presentations (ideas and concepts). Specifies and decides on placement of text in relation to art, artifacts, etc.; determines fonts and typographical effects to be used; and plans the effective use of color, textures, and shapes to be used within the design.
  • As needed in support of duties, conducts general research using primary sources on a variety of park related themes related to history, archeology, cultural and natural resources management, and natural history in order to develop visual information project.
  • May perform other duties required to support the operation of the division.

Qualifications and Education Requirements: Successful candidates must meet the age criteria of being 55 years of age or older and eligible to work in the United States; able to pass a Federal Background check; HS/GED; 5-10 years in related field; Skill in appropriate software to accomplish tasks such as photo and video editing and page design, as well as user knowledge of printers, large-format plotters, wireless routers, web cams, GPS mapping devices and hand-held devices. Working knowledge in accessibility design standards for web and non-web products.

Experience developing products using inclusive language reflective of diversity, equity, inclusion and accessibility principles. Experience creating content representing and communicating in a manner that reflects diversity and inclusion. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently. Microsoft Suite; SharePoint; Adobe Creative Suite a plus. Office work and onsite visits to learn park resources, video record and take photographs.

Hours & CompensationPart-Time position working 24 hours per week @ $25 per hour 6-12 month project. Hybrid work schedule.
