Description
The Center for Urban Community Services, a national leader in the development of effective housing and service initiatives for homeless people, invites applications for Evening Supervisor. CUCS provides comprehensive on-site social services using a recovery orientation, which includes evidence-based practices with particular emphasis on mental health and substance abuse recovery for singles, and a family systems approach for the families.
CUCS' 105 Washington Street Safe Haven is a new Safe Haven located in Manhattan's Financial District. The program will serve as temporary living space for 84 individuals experiencing street homelessness. The program will provide onsite psychiatric, primary care and intensive case management to participants, the majority of whom have psychiatric and substance use needs. All participants will receive assistance with placement into housing. Program operations will be 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Responsibilities:
The Evening Supervisor is responsible for managing the evening team and providing supervision to its members. The Evening Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that their supervisees are helping clients to adjust to the shelter community; helping their team to function well and meet their contractual obligations, including housing placement; and striving, as appropriate to their role, to fulfill the CUCS programs' core purpose, core values, and vision statements.
The Evening Supervisor is part of their program's management team and is therefore also responsible for helping to ensure that their program provides the best services possible for its clients, is an engaging and rewarding place for staff to work and has a culture which promotes continuous learning and improvement. The Evening Supervisor may be assigned additional responsibilities. The Evening Supervisor is part of the on-call rotation during off hours as assigned.
Hours: 4pm to 12am Monday to Friday. Twice a week, the Evening Supervisor will attend meetings that require them to work 3pm-11pm. The selected candidate must be able to attend occasional trainings that are held during the day.
Projected Opening Date:
The projected opening date for the site is approximately May 2024. The Management team and Office Manager will start approximately three weeks prior to opening. All other staff will start no later than one to two weeks before opening. These dates will be adjusted if there are changes to the projected opening date.
Requirements

• MSW Preferred, but a minimum of a BA is required.
• 3 years of MH experience required
• 2 years of supervisory experience required
• Demonstrated ability to provide services to clients with psychiatric and medical disabilities and with issues of substance abuse.
• Computer literacy, excellent writing and verbal communication skills are required.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Experience working within a DHS safe haven, shelter or drop in center is a plus
• Ability to be part of the on-call rotation after hours, weekends and holidays
