The Center for Caregiver Advancement (CCA) is an independent non-profit training organization serving nursing home workers and home care workers, founded in 2000 by the home care workers of SEIU Local 2015. Our mission is to provide educational opportunities to long-term care workers so they can build better lives and provide high-quality care to the consumers they serve. As the largest provider of training for long-term care workers in California, CCA has trained more than 35,000 caregivers, , primarily women and people of color, in eight different languages. CCA provides industry-leading training, workforce development, policy initiatives, research, and support systems to help California's caregivers and those they serve to thrive. Position Overview: **Candidate must be a CA resident or moving to CA for employment** The Controller is a key member of CCA's leadership team and a strategic thought-partner. He or she reports to the CFO. The successful candidate is a direct and participatory manager that will lead, develop, and supervise the accounting staff members. This position holds direct responsibility for finance, financial reporting, and budgeting. The Controller will be expected to:

Establish strong working relationships with the CEO, CFO, and peer members of the leadership team, so that, in partnership, sound budgets, program proposals, program activities, and strategies are effectively developed and implemented.
Provide support to financial leadership, in partnership with the Board of Directors and leadership team, to support and improve CCA's long-term financial health.
Ongoing Responsibilities
Supervise the preparation, execution, and monitoring of an annual operating budget of $20-25 million.
Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
Partner with the CFO in the annual budget process
Oversee accountant(s) supporting all accounting functions, including authorizing and auditing expenditures and accounting entries, and ensuring proper internal financial controls.
Lead the annual audit process, including ensuring completion of all auditor requested items, consult with external auditors and the finance committee of the board of directors; assess any changes necessary.
Ensure and oversee preparation of IRS, state, and local taxes and reports (prepared by outside CPA firm).
Manage the organization of the Finance department documents
Prepare and provide the monthly financial reporting package to the CFO.
Analyze and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly and annual financial statements; and oversee all financial project/program and grants accounting.
Grant Management and tracking, including providing support to complete any proposals for new grants
Mentor Finance department staff, including annual progress and training goals
Collaborate with Operations Analyst to develop more efficient method of tracking projects and calendaring deadlines
Review journal entries, invoices to funders/awards/TPA for programs, account reconciliations as prepared by accounting staff
Prepare and finalize all monthly close items, including any journal entries and reconciliations needed to meet close deadlines
Lead weekly Finance team meeting and drive deadlines and Finance projects to completion
Review monthly award reporting, financial and labor utilization, with department/award managers
Lead completion of reports setup and dashboard for managers in Sage Intacct
Monitor CCA's investment portfolio
Create and maintain cash flow two month projection and forecasting receivables and payables
Oversee, along with the Program Directors, systems for tracking progress, earnings and expenditures for contracts and grants, including invoicing and grant financial reporting.
Implement and maintain organizational cash flow and forecasting, including A/R collection and payment tracking.
Oversee business and contractual agreements between CCA and outside vendors and consultants.
Ensure that the contract billing and collection schedule is adhered to and that financial data and cash flow are steady and support operational requirements.
Update and implement all necessary business policies and accounting practices; improve the finance department's overall policy and procedure manual.
Effectively communicate and present the critical financial matters to the CFO and other members of the Leadership team.
Coordinate with HR to ensure complete and correct benefits/insurance/pension/401k bill reconciliations for payment
Review final cash disposition reports for payroll and ensure cash transfer and journal entries related to payroll are completed
Oversee administration of all financial systems, including reporting functions
Other ad hoc projects as assigned by CFO
Qualifications
Minimum education or equivalent experience: Bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related discipline. MBA/Accounting or CPA is an advantage.
Minimum experience: seven to ten years of finance and operations experience, preferably in a nonprofit.
Experience working directly with Human Resources in the areas of compensation, benefits, staffing, organizational development, and employee relations.
Understanding of nonprofit finance and accounting, specifically experience managing government grants and award administration.
Excellent leadership and mentoring skills for Finance team
Must have experience preparing and completing monthly/annual financial close cycle.
Excellent experience with budget planning and development.
Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from different internal and external audiences.
Ability to work quickly and effectively with the entire management team and ensure that directors understand their financial and budgetary responsibilities.
Excellent computer skills. Proficiency in ERP systems, specifically Sage Intacct
Excel, Word, and Google drive usage. Use of Quickbooks, Tipalti and other Finance component apps is a plus.
Practical knowledge of Federal and California employment law.

Job Type: Full Time - Exempt Annual Salary: $105,000 - $125,000 Schedule : Standard work week Monday - Friday; business hours 8am-6pm We are a teleworking California employer. Employees are expected to attend in-person meetings 2-8 times per year. Salary and Benefits: Competitive salary starting at $105k.
