Celanese is Hiring a Principal Process Engineer Near Pensacola, FL

LOCATION - Pensacola, FL - Relocation assistance is offered!
The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for providing process engineering leadership in support of the reliable operation and continuous improvement of the production lines at the Pensacola Specialty Elastomers Plant. This role reports directly to the site Technical Manager and serves as the process/technology knowledge anchor for the site. 

Primary Functions

  • Exhibit safety leadership in support of the site behavior-based safety program
  • Identify and drive improvements to production capacity, efficiency, reliability, process safety and environmental performance in accordance with the business and unit technology plans
  • Coordinate technical response to complex operational issues, leading cross-functional teams and engaging other engineering disciplines and above-site resources as needed
  • Translate technical problems into business risk and provide sound recommendations for mitigation to the site leadership team
  • Act as site technical gatekeeper for new product development, raw material, technology, and equipment trials
  • Develop and maintain plan to address gaps from entitlement targets, most effective technology, and best practices
  • Champion technical sharing across sites and leverage learnings to continuously improve the technology and the production process
  • Continuously engage in the production facility to identify and remove barriers inhibiting flawless production
  • Consult with internal technical experts, vendors, or outside consultants when necessary
  • Act as administrator for relevant safety, reliability, or quality management systems
  • Assist in the development of operating procedures and technician training
  • Mentor less experienced process engineers and support personnel development planning
  • Provide process engineer expertise in support of management of change and project activities

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • BS in Chemical Engineering from an accredited university
  • At least 10 years of process engineering experience in a Chemical Plant or similar manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with basic computer software (i.e. Microsoft Office)

Preferred Knowledge / Skills / Experience

  • Strong analytical & troubleshooting skills, with demonstrated ability to identify and resolve issues through monitoring of performance trends
  • Proven ability to manage short deadlines and emergency situations
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and assist the business unit in prioritizing work items
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills with the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of an organization
  • Proven experience in leading cross-functional teams to solve complex issues
  • High level of ownership and initiative
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategic improvement plans
  • Experience with new product development scale-up activities
  • Knowledge of process design, instrumentation, process control, statistics, and process safety
  • Knowledge of process engineering tools, e.g. ASPEN, HTRI, hydraulics, etc.
  • Knowledge of basic economics and justification calculations
