YOUR LIFE AS A CIVIL ENGINEER / PROJECT ENGINEER

This civil engineering position works a full-time hybrid schedule that includes some overnight travel. The flexibility for how remote the position can be is based on the skills and experience of the employee and the needs of the department.

As a Civil Engineer, you are essential to our ability to provide complete and accurate construction documents to our clients. Each day, you arrive at work ready to tackle a variety of civil engineering projects. Drawing on data from reports, maps, aerial photographs, soil composition tests, and more, you develop a clear understanding of the scope of the project, which you then use to create plans. Using AutoCAD as your primary tool, you develop project designs that drafters then use to create drawings. Working with the drafters gives you the chance to serve as a mentor for our less experienced team members, and you enjoy helping others increase their skills in AutoCAD as well as learn and grow in their careers.

As part of your responsibilities, you work with utility companies, governmental entities, and sub-consultants to coordinate everyone's roles in the planning and development of each project. You also monitor the budget and ensure that the labor and expense costs stay within their forecasted range. Preparing reports is another of your important tasks as you ensure transparency and accuracy in our construction schedules, environmental impact studies, legal documentation, and more. From time to time, you meet with clients to discuss changes and resolve their questions or concerns. You know how important our clients' input is at every stage of the process and are happy to ensure their satisfaction. As our projects progress, you take great satisfaction in knowing you play such an important role in their success!

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU AS A PROJECT ENGINEER

  • EI or EIT
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
  • 2 years of related experience or training
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Strong proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and project management software
  • Driver's license, acceptable driving record, and the willingness to occasionally travel overnight

Licensure as a professional engineer (PE) is preferred but not required. If you have the right engineering and AutoCAD skills to perform this project engineer job as described above, we would be happy to have you as part of our team!
