Residential Direct Support Professional
Cedar Lake Residences in La Grange, KY
$17.00/hr and up based on education and experience
Full-time 9a-9p, 36 hours/week, Monday, Wednesday, and every other Saturday or Sunday required.

We are a local non-profit organization founded in 1970 by Louisville-area parents of people with IDD. What you’ll do:
  • Provides supports to Individuals utilizing person-centered practices, encouraging each Individual’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being.
  • Interacts with Individuals in a manner that displays warmth and promotes a safe, caring environment.
  • Coordinates with the Assistant Director of Residential Operations and the Case Manager to facilitate the development of individual goals. Encourages the implementation of goals with the objective of increasing self-reliance and independence.
  • Maintain knowledge of the Individual’s plan of care and provides support to the Individuals according to their Individual Program Plan (IPP), Behavioral Support Plan, and any other team-developed plan. Observes Individuals for changes in condition or behavior and promptly reports these changes to appropriate personnel.
  • Responsible for required daily documentation which reflects progress and concerns regarding Individuals.
  • Maintains appropriate records and operates within state regulations and established CLR standards.
  • Maintains the comfort, privacy, and dignity of the Individuals we support in the delivery of services.
  • Fully understands all aspects of Individuals’ rights, including the right to be free of restraints and free of abuse.
  • Responsible for immediately reporting to the Administrator (or supervisor) incidents or evidence of abuse, neglect, exploitation, and/or violation of Individuals’ rights.
  • Coach or assist Individuals with daily living skills, assist with or provide personal hygiene needs – assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene, feeding, toileting, etc.
  • Administer medications according to established protocol. Document as required on medication administration records. Ensure Individuals’ medications are readily available and up-to-date.
  • Provide transportation (drives) for Individuals to scheduled appointments and activities, operates company vehicles in accordance with company policy and local, state, and federal laws. Provides supervision and assistance to Individuals, and actively participates when appropriate.
  • Coordinates with the Assistant Director of Residential Operations and the Cedar Lake Business Office to monitor Individuals’ personal financial responsibilities and needs.
  • Responsible to coordinate with the Residential Supervisor to maintain day-to-day operations of the residence – physical maintenance, housekeeping, Individuals’ schedules, and transportation.
  • Encourages community participation and facilitates cultivation of friendships. Provides guidance and direction on social, judgement, health, and safety issues.
  • Implements constructive/innovative ways to respond to conflict and develops strategies for resolution in which all parties can benefit.
  • Attend staff trainings and meetings as scheduled.
  • Serves as a professional role model, abiding by ethical standards for Individuals.
  • Protects and assist with the care of the personal belongings of each Individual we support – including wheelchairs, eyeglasses, dentures, hearing aids, furnishing, jewelry, clothing, and memorabilia. Promptly reports missing items according to established policy and participates in efforts to locate missing items.
  • Communicates and interacts effectively and tactfully with the Individuals, visitors, families, peers, and other personnel.
