Description

Position Summary

This position works under minimal supervision and is responsible for all aspects of Accounting and Finance in the company including all financial records, banking and daily operations of the accounting department. Supervises the work of the company’s Accounting Department. Responsible for producing accurate job-cost accounting reports, oversees audits, and prepares reports for regulators. Accountable for accuracy of the general ledger and for maintaining G/L compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Control close process, ensuring complete and accurate billings, a/p entry processing, and cash receipts applications, as well as proper revenue and expense recognition, reporting in a timely manner.
  • Maintains controls and budgets that enhance the accuracy of financial reports and ensures reports comply with GAAP.
  • Oversee collections optimization from ensuring timely customer portal submissions and managing aging/ collections processes
  • Maintains cash forecasting schedules; conducts regular meetings with CEO and CFO to discuss cash flow and cash needs.
  • Review prior financial results and discusses anticipated changes to highlight future needs and trends.
  • Prepare summaries and forecasts for future business growth and general economic outlook.
  • Lead accounting team members (up to 15 total); oversee effective management and staffing activities.
  • Manage general ledger including analysis of financials, entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
  • Reconciles asset and liability accounts monthly (cash, accounts payable, accounts receivable), quarterly (pre-paid assets), and yearly (PTO/Workers Compensation/GL).
  • Update company model monthly.
  • Prepare financial reporting and preparations; oversee meetings with service line managers to provide feedback and assist with operational decisions.
  • Review monthly borrowing base reports in support of revolving line credit with Company credit institution.
  • Manages inter-company transactions.
  • Produces and maintains miscellaneous other reports, spreadsheets, calculations, and data as requested and needed by the Company.
  • Prepare financial reporting and presentations for lenders and senior management.

Other Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.
  • Review and approve sales tax filings in several states.
  • Analyze and implement solutions to complex accounting problems.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP standards and best practices.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least three (3) years of previous supervisory experience with proven leadership skills.
  • 5-10 years’ experience in a Controller or Finance role.
  • 10 years’ successful industry experience in similar role with progressive progress and growth in positions.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal personnel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and complete assignments effectively and within firm deadlines,
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment as needed,
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment within general policy guidelines.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and financial software.
  • Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), practices, and reporting guidelines.
  • Understand and adhere to systems of internal controls.
  • Ability to manage a high degree of confidentiality and exercise discretion and appropriate judgment in handling sensitive material.
  • Experience dealing with banks and financial institutions.
  • Experience with ComputerEase and Paycom preferred.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations and balance demanding workload.
  • Ability look at our process and use your continuous improvement experience to see how we can improve. Strong problem-solving skills.
  • High level computer proficiency including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and ERP systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, of course.
  • Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. But you are not afraid to roll up your sleeves when needed.
  • Ability to work with different departments and with various levels of company personnel. You want to build relationships with the field managers and be a partner with them.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgement, initiative, and confidentiality. You feel confident in your decision making and can jump right in and make a difference.
