Description

This role is responsible for operations, maintenance, and patient care in various correctional settings and locations. The Cardiac Sonographer provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Explaining sonographic procedures to patients, answering questions, preparing patients by applying the gel to the skin, and positioning the patients on the table: Ability to educate patients of safe and appropriate testing; thoroughly explaining procedures, answering appropriate questions and calming concerns. (Limited in correctional setting)
• Perform diagnostic examinations according to standardized protocols to provide the best possible results: Ensuring clear images for diagnostic purposes and making adjustments to the sonographic equipment when necessary.
• Monitoring and caring for patients to ensure their safety and comfort during the procedures.
• Selecting and examining images, looking for differences between healthy and pathological areas, and determining if the scope of the exam should be extended, based on preliminary findings.
• Presenting the sonograms and preliminary findings to the Physicians.
• Maintaining and cleaning the sonographic equipment.
• Obtains necessary information including medical history, patient evaluation, and assessment forms if necessary.
• Performs a variety of quality echocardiographic evaluations of the heart for diagnostic purposes.

• Other duties that may arise from time-to-time and/or are commensurate with the title and position.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, and relevant certification required.
• An associate or bachelor’s degree in sonography.
• Registered in echocardiography and vascular ultrasound (RCS, RDCS,RVT, or RVS)
• Basic Life Support (BLS)/ CPR
• Two (2) years of cardiovascular imaging experience.
• Meet continuing medical education requirements according to the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers.
• Strong technical, communication, interpersonal, and patient service skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines.
• Ability to wear PPE for extended periods of time without restriction.
• Must possess the physical capability to lift, bend, and perform other physical tasks requiring a minimum strength of 50 lbs.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $40.71 - $49.03 per hour
