PURPOSEThe Traveling Vibration Analyst/ Maintenance Technician role is responsible for completing Predictive Maintenance Services field projects and providing comprehensive reports of findings. This includes testing rotating equipment, laser alignment, dynamic balancing, vibration analysis, setting bearing clearances, general industrial mechanical repairs, and measuring the severity of equipment problems and reporting conditions to customers.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIESSafely collect, analyze, and report on the general health of plant equipment, using vibration analysis to determine root cause and make recommendations for correctionDiagnose imbalance, misalignment, looseness, worn and damaged components, as well as structural resonances, bearing, pump, and gear faultsRepair highly critical plan equipment with exceptional accuracy and speed to reduce downtimeOversee projects at customer’s sites from start to finish and write comprehensive reports documenting findingsDevelop and maintain strong customer relationships founded on trust, respect, and reliability Ability to travel overnight 20% of the timeComplete assigned tasks efficiently with little supervisionAssume management duties when necessaryPerform other duties as assigned and directed MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLSHigh School diploma or equivalent plus 5 years’ experience preferredMust have a valid Driver’s License with a clean driving recordAbility to travel overnight 20% of the timeThe physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditionsStrong mechanical aptitude, sense of urgency and keen attention to detailCapable of using and reading precision measuring devices, such as micrometers and calipersAble to wear personal protective equipment, including a respirator as necessaryStrong time management skills and ability to handle multiple tasksExcellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational planning, teamwork, analytical reasoning and adaptability.Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include ability to lift up to 75lbs, walking, standing, sitting, bending, reaching, and stoopingAbility to effectively and professionally prepare reports for customers after each projectMust be highly motivated with strong work ethicFundamental understanding of rotating equipment, fabrication/manufacturing of equipment, and machine shop practicesAbility to work overtime hours based on customer demandsMust comply with all OSHA and safety regulations and company standardsAbility to travel and work at job sites outside the KC area with expense report requirementsAbility to work under pressure to meet critical deadlinesStrong Microsoft Office Suite and/or Google app skills requiredMust possess a customer first focus and attitude, and be able to work with individuals of all levels POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED WORK HOURSThis is a full-time, 40 hours per week position based out of our Merriam, KS headquarters location. The position calls for being on call, working overtime as needed, some weekends and holidays as required. The majority of work will be Monday-Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. This position requires a commitment of 20% overnight travel as well as extensively within 4 hours of the KC metro area (sometimes on short notice).
