CBC is Hiring an Operational Analyst Near Portland, OR

Exciting Opportunity in Energy Sector: Hybrid Contract Role

Summary: Duration: 6-12 months (dependent on project needs)
Work Hours: 8 am - 5 pm, 40 hours a week
Location: Local candidates preferred, with occasional onsite meetings (1-2 times per month if required)

Required Skills: Ideal candidates should have a background in the utility sector, specifically in power, natural gas, and energy. The following skills and qualifications are highly desired:

  • A broad background in energy and quantitative risk analysis, with a focus on power, natural gas, and renewables.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in disciplines such as engineering, statistics, science, economics, or finance.
  • 3-4 years or more of experience in a quantitative role within the energy industry or a directly related academic setting, preferably with experience in wholesale power and/or gas markets.
  • Expertise in techniques such as time series analysis, advanced regression and econometric techniques, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with Production Cost Modeling.
  • Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with various teams outside of risk management.
  • Experience with Endur ETRM is a plus.

Roles & Responsibilities: In this dynamic role, you will be at the forefront of the energy sector's transformation. Responsibilities include:

  • Leading Power Operations Risk Management, analyzing operational reports, and assessing trading risk limits.
  • Providing analytical support for trading, portfolio management, origination, and risk analysis.
  • Initiating and analyzing optimization in competitive markets and stochastic simulations.
  • Designing complex valuation and price models for structured products.
  • Implementing portfolio and asset optimization frameworks.
  • Leading quantitative research and modeling tasks related to energy markets and commercial activities.
  • Providing statistical analysis and quantitative tools for trading and hedging purposes.
  • Communicating effectively to diverse audiences about modeling methodologies and results.
  • Making decisions within the Risk Management Policy and Procedure framework.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Background in energy and quantitative risk analysis in North America.
  • Experience with Production Cost Modeling, wholesale power and/or gas markets, and Risk Management Systems.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in relevant disciplines (or equivalent experience).
