Additional Information: This position is posted with the full salary range indicating future potential earnings; however, the actual hiring salary for this position is dependent upon relevant experience and qualifications above minimum requirements and position funding. Administrative Duties Actively supports and upholds the City's stated mission and values. Under direct supervision of the Library Supervisor, employees of this classification perform routine duties associated with daily library operations.

- Tracks and reports statistics for program area.
- Performs related duties, as assigned.
Collection Management Services
- Catalogs new items in Integrated Library System to provide accurate information about titles and items held by the library, including title, authors/artists, publication information, subjects, etc., allowing patron access to our materials by searching the public catalog.
- At times works with Authority Control Authorization database and perform complex original cataloging.
- Selects and edits correct records from bibliographic database, assigns call number, and attaches holdings.
- Creates and/or updates catalog records (database maintenance).
- May mend materials, coordinate donations for book sales, or restock materials.
- May select, acquire, and order large quantities of materials from approved vendors. Downloads bib records into ILS. Receives, unpacks, and invoices acquisitions.
- May work with vendors on orders and subscription renewals. Receives, processes, covers, and shelves magazines.
Qualifications MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS - Associates degree or two years of college level coursework.
- Two years of experience working in a public library including one year working with computers and on-line resources, including library circulation software.
- Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.
DESIRED REQUIREMENTS - Bachelor's Degree or higher in a related field.
- Three years of progressively responsible employment in the library field.
- Knowledge of the local community and its resources.
- Fluency in a language other than English, particularly Dine, Hopi, and/or Spanish.
- Basic knowledge of and experience with collection development/maintenance.
- Cataloging experience for Collection Management Services (Collection Mgt only).
OTHER REQUIREMENTS - Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
- Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver's license.
- Basic understanding of communication and customer service principles. Demonstrates competent written and verbal communication.
Supplemental Information REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY) - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT - While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is frequently required to use hands or fingers to feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Vision requirements for this position include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
