This position administers the CHS retirement benefit programs. Functional responsibilities include the effective management, administration, and compliance of retirement plans such as 401(k) and 403(b) accounts, pension funds, and other retirement savings options available to employees. The role involves overseeing plan operations, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements, and optimizing the programs for the benefit of participants.

Position Overview:

  • Retirement Plan Administration: Oversee the administration of CHS retirement benefit programs, including 401(k), 403(b), and pension plans. Ensure that these programs are effectively managed and optimized for the benefit of employees.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure retirement plans adhere to all applicable laws and regulations, including ERISA, IRS guidelines, and DOL requirements. Maintain accurate records and documentation to support audits and compliance checks.
  • Plan Optimization: Conduct in-depth analysis of retirement accounts and recommend strategies to maximize returns and optimize plans. Monitor investment performance and propose reallocation options when necessary.
  • Enrollment Support: Facilitate plan enrollments and assist employees in understanding contribution options, investment choices, and savings strategies. Provide guidance on how to best utilize their retirement plans.
  • Employee Education: Conduct workshops and one-on-one sessions to educate employees on retirement planning, investment options, and the benefits of various programs. Help them make informed decisions for their financial future.
  • Communication: Serve as a point of contact for employee inquiries related to retirement benefits. Provide clear and timely responses and communicate any changes to retirement programs effectively.
  • Industry Monitoring: Stay abreast of industry trends, financial markets, and new retirement products. Evaluate how these changes may impact retirement planning strategies and implement adjustments accordingly.
  • Reporting and Analysis: Prepare regular reports on plan performance, participant engagement, and compliance status. Present findings to CHS leadership, highlighting areas for improvement and proposing solutions to enhance retirement benefits programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, Finance or a related field; equivalent combination of education, work experience, and relevant HR-related certifications.

Experience: 10 years of progressively responsible experience managing employee retirement programs, including both defined benefits and defined contribution plans and knowledge of defined benefits self-administration desired.

Certification: CEBS, PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or relevant certifications preferred.

  • Ability to analyze complex data and summarize it in easily understandable form.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of retirement plan regulations, plan designs and third-party record keeping/administration required. Self-administration experience is desired.
  • Project management skills to manage major annual projects such as open enrollment and recordkeeping maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, to ensure trust and compliance with Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, and to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective positive working relationships with co-workers and CHS team members.
  • Ability to apply proactive and innovative solutions to everyday challenges.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable employment laws.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Travel Requirement: Hybrid - with an onsite presence a minimum of four times per month

Physical Nature of the Job:

Repetitive use of hands and fingers, such as use of computer mouse and keyboard. May require use of lifting and carrying light lads up to 10 pounds. Sitting and/or standing for long periods of time.
