About the Program and Position:

The Cayuga Centers’ Upstate New York Treatment Family Foster Care (TFFC) Team is looking for a clinician/therapist who is passionate about supporting hard-to-place youth in the foster care system. We wrap services around the youth, their family/kin/caregivers, and the foster parents to address trauma related symptoms and reunify youth with their family at home or discharge to a permanent home as soon as possible. As a Clinician, you will work on a dynamic multidisciplinary treatment team, provide individual and family therapy, learn about and address the impact of trauma on youth and families, and most importantly, you will support life changes in youth and families. Join us with your compassion and therapeutic skills and expand your expertise in the field.

  • Our Treatment Family Foster Care program serves youth in foster care between the ages of 0 and 21.

  • We serve youth and families by partnering with Local Department of Social Services officials, Office of Child and Family Services, Office of People With Developmental Disabilities, and community resource partners to provide bundled, strength-based, therapeutic interventions that change children’s lives.

  • MAKE A DIFFERENCE in the lives of children and families using a trauma informed lens by working on a treatment team that believes that every child matters and that all people have strengths.

  • The role you play is pivotal in supporting youth and families to reunify following the trauma of separation, or supporting youth to find permanent homes with kin or other caring adult resources.

Does this sound like it interests you? We’d love for you to join our team in helping children and families create safe, happy and healthy environments.

How you get to use your clinical and therapeutic skills…

  • Apply and develop your clinical assessment, evaluation, and family therapy skills.

  • Utilize a strengths-based and trauma-informed practice to help children, youth, and families identify their strengths and needs.

  • Training and opportunity for certification in trauma-informed, evidenced based/informed treatment models such as Motivational Interviewing and Trauma Focused-CBT (at no cost to you).

  • Partner with treatment team members to ensure children, youth, and families are quickly connected to needed programs and services.

  • Demonstrate an inclusive practice both in the office and in the field to support a diverse and accepting culture.

  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team that shares your passion for children and families.

  • Participate in individual and group Clinical Supervision.

Schedule:

Looking for an applicant who is willing to work with the youth/families at a time that suits the youth and family needs on a flexible schedule. This is a full-time, 40-hour-a-week position.

  • Familiarity with formulating clinical diagnoses and/or impressions.

  • Ability to engage families who may have been unsuccessful in clinic settings.

  • Ability to have flexibility in hours worked both routinely, so as to meet children and families when they are available, and occasionally, in response to crises which may occur at any hour of any day.

About Cayuga Centers

For over 165 years, we have been there for children and families Children need families, and families sometimes need support. Cayuga Centers is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring children have a safe, loving home. We work to keep families together, and unite those who have been divided. That might mean a temporary foster stay while problems at home are resolved. In the case of unaccompanied migrant children, it means providing a foster home during the process of identifying a parent or sponsor, and doing everything possible to ensure a speedy and safe return. We also provide medica...l and psychological support, advocacy, learning and cultural enrichment. Weve come a long way since our founding as a home for destitute children in 1852. But weve never lost sight of our mission: to help children and families, whatever their circumstances. More
