We are a group of only 125 dedicated people, committed to improving the quality of life for those in need by providing shelter and case management to those in need, convenient nearby locations to include, Fall River, MA, New Bedford, MA, and Taunton, MA, away from the heavily travelled commuting routes. We are also growing, with a new state of the art shelter opening in the near future in Attleboro, MA.

The Meal Center Coordinator is based in New Bedford and is responsible for the production and serving of hot and cold meals to the general public, as well as ensure safety practices in compliance with Health Department codes, making sure best practices and proper cooking techniques are followed (i.e. food temperature, food safety and quality).

The Meal Center Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the functions of the program are met while providing services that are safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable and client-centered by:

  • Maintaining health and safety standards and Food Sanitation Certification and adhere to food safety protocols
  • Responsible for maintaining and ordering food and supplies, paper goods, cleaning chemicals and weekly bread runs
  • Responsible for labeling and dating all items upon storing
  • Must plan and follow daily lunch menu
  • Responsible for the daily preparation of hot meals, soups, deserts, salads and side dishes and serve to the general public
  • Must follow all sanitation requirements: hair nets and gloves must be worn while preparing and serving food
  • Must maintain accurate daily records of the number of meals served and create monthly report

What You Bring to The Table

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Food Safety Certification required
  • Food service or related experience preferred
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a customer service focus
  • Courteous, professional presentation, cooperative and positive attitude when working with people of various ethnicities, languages and personality types
  • Ability to pass a CORI background check
  • Commitment to integrity, excellence, and the highest standards of ethics
