Business Manager Behavioral Health Summary:

Directs the day-to-day business operation of the outpatient Clinic/CI/FCS to ensure effective delivery of services within the identified budgetary constraints. Responsible for managing overall business/information technology/building maintenance and clerical support systems and leading unit based efforts to provide excellent custumer services and coordinated clerical and clinical systems. Adheres to Mercy Medical Center/department policies and procedures and JCAHO/regulatory agency requirements. Demonstrates and promotes service excellence at all times.

Business Manager Behavioral Health Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Takes leadership in recruiting & maintaining adequate, qualified staff through interviewing, hiring and scheduling to meet unit based goals and objectives
• Responsible for developing & monitoring internal bookkeeping procedures regarding purchasing and ordering program supplies, expenses, check requests & disbursement of petty cash in keeping with budgetary constraints and Hospital / Department guidelines
• Monitors & supervises staff to ensure that facility, fixtures, equipment & document preparation is maintained in acceptable, clean & safe working conditions by establishment and maintenanceof necessary contracts with appropriate vendors and agents within budgetary guidelines
• Oversees equipment & supply inventories to ensure adequate supplies maintained Monitor & ensures that personnel records relating to time and attendance, benefits and payroll are maintained in an accurate, timely and confidential manner in accordance with hospital and Department guidelines

• Manages business operations staff. Provides &/or supervises staff to ensure that all staff receive orientation, supervision, and ongoing education & required evaluations are completed within timeframes and guidelines to provide for performance review and feedback
• Oversees & monitors daily clerical operations to provide appropriate direction for the appropriate use of resources to ensure adequate coverage, and complete daily and “as needed” tasks and objectives. Revises office/clerical procedures as indicted to meet unit based needs & objectives
• Provides counseling to staff in meeting performance standards and goals, fosters independence, motivation, continued development and morale
• Ensures disciplinary action is taken per established policy and procedure when unsatisfactory performance is identified
• Oversees orientations, ensures employee has a clear understanding of position duties and responsibilities, policies and procedures, fire and safety regulations and other requirements
• Identifies, trouble shoots and resolves issues and problems related to revenue, billing, compliance, etc., related to hospital’s financial system & provides consultation & support to other BHS departments as indicated

Bachelor’s Degree in Business or certificate from accredited business school.

Two years of prior relevant experience required, mental health and/or chemical dependency supervisory experience preferred. Advanced PC/data entry skills and personal maturity and good communication skills mandatory.
