Catholic Diocese of Lansing is Hiring an Executive Director Near Lansing, MI

Mother Teresa House (MTH) seeks a visionary leader to serve as Executive Director. As Executive Director, you will report to the Board of Directors and provide overall leadership and strategic vision to expand MTH’s mission of providing care to terminally ill people and their families. The Executive Director will also oversee all aspects of MTH, including the management and operations of staff, community outreach and fundraising efforts. MTH is a Catholic, 501(c)(3) organization located in Lansing, MI.
General Duty:
Oversee all aspects of Mother Teresa House (MTH), including the management and operations of staff, community outreach and fundraising efforts.
Functional Duties:
  • Promote, exemplify, and ensure application of Catholic end of life ethical and religious directives.
  • Provide and maintain excellent guest care, meeting competence expectations and emphasizing compassion and presence and working in accordance with a comprehensive hospice model.
  • Complete oversight of all aspects of resident care, programming, staffing, and community engagement as well as volunteerism, community education, and fundraising to support sustainability of the organization.
  • Development and hiring of staff necessary to support and promote the MTH mission.
  • Provide a draft of the annual budget to the Board of Directors for approval.
  • Ensure that MTH operates within prescribed budget set annually by the Board of Directors.
  • Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to develop and implement procedures for accounting, control, and audit of financial resources in accordance with sound financial practices.
  • Work collaboratively with Board of Directors to anticipate and identify fundraising needs and facilitate fundraising opportunities.
  • Establish, in conjunction with the Board, positive ongoing relationships and outreach with donors.
  • Ensure that MTH is at all times in compliance with applicable rules, laws, and regulations.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures, including Program practices.
  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to develop and implement a strategic plan to open a second home to further expand MTH care to additional communities, including the solicitation of donations, community involvement, and management of building renovations, as needed.
  • Promote opportunities to utilize MTH as a model and educational resource for end-of-life care that respects life, the dignity of the human person, and faith.
  • Consider opportunities to use MTH as a site for nursing, medical, social work and other educational programs.
  • Assume on-call management duties within rotation or as needed for staff transitions and take an active part in house admissions, as needed.
  • Maintain relationship with the Diocese of Lansing.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic and support of the Catholic identity.
  • A background in nonprofit management, including staff management and community fundraising, as well as experience with working with a Board of Directors.
  • Significant knowledge and experience with the hospice industry and the caregiving landscape.
  • Strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication and public speak skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with a variety of individuals, including staff, house residents, the Board of Directors and others.
  • Strong organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, task facilitation and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a competent and professional manner with a strong aptitude for detail.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and data management software.
  • Complete required MTH training and periodic updates.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds.
