This role exists to support and implement the Mission of Magnificat High School. Under supervision from the Director of Facilities, the Facilities Technician will perform and assist with specialized and technical duties to maintain and repair the facility’s building, grounds and equipment, and ensures timely execution of all repairs and maintenance to keep the buildings, grounds, and equipment clean, orderly, safe, and operational. R

eports to: Director of Facilities

Classification: Non-Exempt, Full Time- 40 hours per week during school year, 30 hours per week during summer months (June and July) (2000 hours annually)

Position Summary: Assists in performing maintenance duties Identifies and reports situations where repairs and/or maintenance may be needed Assists with monthly preventative maintenance inspections; conducts safety compliance inspections, and maintains checklists noting general conditions, needed repairs and potential concerns. Responsible for daily review and processing of ML Schedules (work order system) work orders. Serves as part of the school security team. Performs duties with members of Facilities team to address safety and security of students and staff in the building and on school grounds Works collaboratively with other staff members and outside vendors to ensure cleanliness and proper maintenance of the school’s assets and facilities Completes duties using safe working habits and provides for the safety of other personnel while performing repairs and maintenance. Assures compliance with appropriate safety practices and procedures and with applicable federal, state and local codes, regulations and requirements. Works with the Facilities team to set up and breakdown furniture (tables, chairs, and other items) for meetings and events at the school. Performs a variety of general grounds keeping functions (e.g. mowing grass, maintaining fields and courts) for the purpose of maintaining safe and attractive areas for all school activities including, but not limited to assemblies, recreational activities, and athletic events Handles seasonal duties such as snow removal, lawn mowing, and landscaping, as needed. Performs other duties as requested by the Director of Facilities or delegated individual. Responds appropriately and promptly to communication from parents, students, administrators, and colleagues Ability to work extended days, evenings and weekends periodically, as needed

Qualifications and Experience: Must have a high school diploma or demonstrated equivalent required Minimum of 3 to 5 years of facilities maintenance experience Must be able to clear Ohio BCI and FBI background checks specific to schools Must have working knowledge of building systems Must be able to read and understand repair manuals and blueprints Experience with power equipment and hand tools Understanding and appreciation of school safety practices Must have experience and knowledge of computers. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Google), energy management systems, work order database systems, and CMMS software a plus. Must have a valid State of Ohio Driver’s license and clean driving record. Must have competent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills Ability to manage multiple complex tasks This position works both indoors and outdoors. Must be able to work in various weather conditions as required. This position requires the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, significant stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 20% sitting, 30% walking, and 50% standing. The job is performed under temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk or injury or illness.
