Christ House Overnight Resident Manager

Non-exempt : Hourly Pay Range $17.00-$19.00
Position Description:
Christ House Transformational Housing helps homeless men reestablish independence after they have exited an emergency shelter. Single adult men are provided with communal housing and intensive support up to 12 months. Christ House offers life skills coaching, spiritual formation, financial literacy, employment training and customized case management.
The Overnight Resident Manager provides shelter coverage and monitors overnight activities at Christ House. The position covers the 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM overnight shift 5 nights per week; Sunday night through Thursday night. Reporting to the Program Director, the Overnight Resident Manager serves as an important member of the Christ House staff team, ensuring all night shift policies and procedures are followed.
Position Responsibilities:

• Provide overnight supervision of Christ House residents and activities, to include managing overnight activities and providing oversight of safety protocols.
• Ensure all exterior doors are locked and secured at the beginning of shift. Make scheduled rounds to ensure all areas of the facility are secure.
• Monitor resident movements within the shelter. Respond to client requests and emergencies within agency guidelines.
• Ensure shelter policies and procedures are followed during overnight shift.
• Engage with and mentor residents
• Document notable resident interactions with staff, volunteers or other clients.
• Administer urine screens and breathalyzer tests
• Retrieve prescription and over-the-counter medications for residents from the safe per policy guidelines. Provide first aid resources to clients.
• Evacuate the shelter per Resident Manual procedure in case of emergency
• Communicate to staff during shift changes. Provide needed updates.
• Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

• Commitment to serve and support individuals who are less fortunate.
• Ability to relate to individuals who have been homeless or had personal challenges.
• Ability to speak authoritatively while maintain composure to keep order.
• Comfortable conducting urinalysis drug screening.
• Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care protocols
• The position is considered "essential" personnel in times of hardship, such as extreme weather conditions and/or other emergencies.

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED required
• Two years human services experience.
• Ability to work nights.
• Experience applying trauma informed care protocols a plus
• Commitment to the mission and goals of Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Arlington.

Physical Demands:

• Required to sit, walk and stand; repeatedly climb 4 flights of stairs; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone, use hands repetitively to finger, handle, feel. Reach with hands and arms,: lift up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
• Work overnights and the ability to stay awake through the night shift.
• Ability to control emotions and remain calm
