Catholic Charities San Bernardino & Riverside Counties is Hiring a Caseworker - Coachella Valley Near Coachella, CA

Description

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

Under the direction of the Regional Coordinator, the Caseworker will provide high-quality casework services to individuals and families in need. The Caseworker will work closely with other staff and volunteers to execute existing services, implement new programs, develop community partnerships, and provide comprehensive services to the community. Full-time position (35 hours a week) in the City of Coachella. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Seeks to fulfill the mission of Catholic Charities with compassion, competence, and dedication to our clients.
  2. Conducts interviews and intake assessments for families and individuals seeking assistance.
  3. Determines appropriate services needed based on the client's status and funding availability and connects them to appropriate community resources as needed.
  4. Assists families with problem-solving by providing counsel and supports families’ intention to access job referrals, medical care, shelter, transportation, food, legal assistance, mental health services, public benefits, financial assistance, Cal-Fresh Healthy Living programs, and other applicable interventions.
  5. Assist in facilitating food distribution programs by safely transporting, loading, and unloading food, as needed, and assisting with the timely input of complete and accurate data into the organization’s database.
  6. Maintains supportive contact with families to assess progress and success and provide additional resources, as needed.
  7. Prioritizes contractual responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Coordinator.
  8. Acts with strict adherence to confidentiality policies and procedures.
  9. Inputs complete and accurate data into the Organization’s database promptly.
  10. Prepares and submits service utilization reports as requested.
  11. Recruits, trains, and supervises volunteers as requested by the Regional Coordinator.
  12. Engages in program implementation and outreach activities as assigned.
  13. Performs high standard of casework services.
  14. Acts as a representative of the agency and the families we serve at community meetings.
  15. Adheres to organization and program policy, procedures, and professional code of conduct and ethics.
  16. Maintains healthy, productive relationships with key partnerships in the community.
  17. Engages in other duties and assignments as required by the Regional Coordinator.

Requirements

  1. High School Diploma/GED
  2. Minimum one year experience providing direct social service in a non-profit setting
  3. Bilingual in Spanish preferred – not required
  4. Ability to function well in an environment of greater need than available resources and frequent contact with families experiencing an immediate crisis
  5. Experience with Microsoft Office, Google email, and basic computer use in a work setting
  6. Comfortable with an online database system to track client services
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with client families, staff and volunteers, and other human service providers in the community
  8. Ability to exercise discretion and maintain appropriate boundaries
  9. Ability to exhibit initiative, resourcefulness, and dependability
  10. The ability to understand personal and environmental stressors impacting families and provide appropriate services with a non-judgmental attitude
  11. Current California Driver’s license and reliable transportation with proper vehicle registration - up to 20% travel may be required in personal vehicle and/or Catholic Charities vehicles. This role requires driving Catholic Charities vehicles and must be able to be added to the organization's auto insurance policy. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT

Includes but not limited to considerable use of arms and legs, whole body movement, walking, lifting, and stooping, standing, sitting, lifting and carrying up to 35lbs., pushing, pulling, kneeling, crouching, hearing, speaking, seeing, reaching, repetitive arm/hand motions, prolonged gripping of an item, repetitive hand/finger movements. This position will work within an office and outdoor environment.
