Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Albany is Hiring a Youth Specialist - Farano Center for Children Near Albany, NY

The Farano Center for Children serves a range of children ages birth to 21 who have either mental health and/or behavioral concerns. The Farano Center is a Residential program that operates 24 hours per day/7 days per week. There are part-time and full-time openings for Youth Specialists on a variety of shifts.

Youth Specialists perform the follwoing job duties:

  • Help ensure the delivery of day-to-day programs and activities
  • Provide support and advocacy for the client
  • Engage and interact with clients through indoor and outdoor activities
  • Be responsible for giving clients their medications
  • Transport clients (using agency vehicle) to visitations, school and/or other activities
  • Be responsible for cooking meals for clients and assisting youth to develop this skill
  • Provide assistance with household duties, such as vacuuming, mopping, sweeping and sanitizing surfaces daily
  • The successful candidate must also be: capable of completing trainings (outside their normal assigned shift) to ensure the safety and well-being of clients served and be able to work as part of a Therapeutic Team, follow routine and be flexible, sincere, caring and nurturing
  • Prior experience working with youth in a Residential setting is a plus
  • Knowlwdge of Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) and Behavior Management Techniques is helpful but we will train an otherwise qualified candidate
  • Must be willing and able to work weekends and holidays. Extra pay offered on holidays

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A valid NYS driver's license
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.; walk up and down stairs as necessary; demonstrate a full range of motion and be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time
  • all applicants must pass pre-employment screenings through the New York State SCR, the New York State Justice Center's Staff Exclusion List and the Justice Center's Criminal Background Check, which includes fingerprinting
