Title: Workforce Development Coordinator

Department:La Casa Amiga Community programs

Position Summary

Under the direction of Director of La Casa Amiga Community programs, the Workforce Development Coordinator will be responsible for launching and supporting the organization’s workforce development initiatives. Key duties and responsibilities will include leading the implementation of the programs, including case management, workshops, employer recruitment and training programs.

Reports to: Director of La Casa Amiga Community programs

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field preferred.
  • Good communication skills, including excellent phone and written communication skills, as well as verbal communication skills, one-on-one, in groups, and for presentations.
  • Experience as instructor for adult students.

· Conscientious and hard-working attitude; ability to work autonomously at times as well as in a team environment.

· Proficient computer skills and in-depth knowledge of relevant software – especially Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point).

· Reliable, self-motivated, and flexible; able to respond to new opportunities.

· Successful completion of initial and on-going employment screens, including, but not limited to criminal background, sex offender, drug screen, OIG, valid Michigan driver’s license, abuse and neglect and vehicle record check as required.

· Must be available to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, according to recruitment needs and site operating requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Lead the implementation of the Workforce Development Program

· Identify and build partnerships with area employers and employment related organizations.

· Acts as a liaison between the program and community agencies, business associations, educational institutions, industry and trade organizations and economic development organizations.

· Works collaboratively with other departments to facilitate the needs of the workforce development.

· Assist with Development of training and programs required by the workforce development.

· Manage, adapt, and update the program as needed.

· Coordinate all different departments involved in training delivery.

· Plan and conduct outreach to connect with employers and community members.

· Advised individuals students and guided them from program selection to job placement.

· Assisting in assessing training programs through surveys to ensure programs are meeting client’s needs.

· Outreach to Hispanic population and promotion of the Workforce Development Program

· Speaks or makes presentations on behalf of La Casa Amiga at events and conferences.

· Provide one on one coaching to participants regarding their career options.

· Plan and implement events regarding the promotion of the workforce program such as job fair, graduation ceremony and more.

· Maintains comprehensive manual and computer records, reports and files as required.

· Conducts follow ups with employers and clients.

· Promote the program within the Hispanic Community in Oakland, Macomb, and Wayne County

· Participate in agency and community meetings as assigned.

· Remain current on workforce development offerings by other organizations.

Work Environment, Physical Demands & Travel:

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift 25 pounds, move file boxes, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Some travel is required.

Position Classification, Type & Expected Hours of Work:This is a part-time, 25 hours per week non-exempt position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, as assigned. This position may include evening and weekend obligations. Eligible for paid time off (PTO).

Pay: $16.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week
