Residential RNs – Residential Services for Developmentally Disabled Adults

FT (35 hrs./wk.); PT (9 hrs./wk.) and On Call positions available (flexible availability needed)

Program Description:

Catholic Charities operates 12 community residences on LI where residents with developmental disabilities are helped to achieve their highest level of functioning and to participate fully in the surrounding community.

Position Description: We are seeking Residential RNs to assume RN oversight of medical/medication- related issues for every resident in the assigned residence in conjunction with the DSPs, Medical Care Counselors and Managers. In this role, the Residential RN will ensure compliance within the program of all medical/medication-related OPWDD regulations and related Agency policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct nursing oversight to confirm that the highest quality of care is provided in all medical situations.
  • Supervise medical and AMAP staff ensuring compliance with required documentation and training.
  • Initiate positive interventions and resolutions of all medical care/medication/AMAP related issues.
  • Report discrepancies and/or problems related to medical care/follow up and AMAP administration to Healthcare Administrator.
  • Participate as active member of Treatment Team advising Team of any significant changes.
  • Assume On-Call Beeper responsibilities in accordance with published schedule.
  • Provide workshops/training on health-related issues for staff, clients and families.
  • Attend medical appointments and ensure that hospitalized residents receive RN follow up.
  • Discuss professional issues via telephone or in person with residents, families, Agency personnel as needed.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing and NYS certification
  • 3-5 years supervisory experience
  • 5 years practical nursing experience
  • Previous experience working with developmentally disabled populations required
  • Valid current NYS driver’s license
  • Able to work flexible hours

Rate of pay: $40.00/hr.

This rate of pay serves as a good faith estimate. Actual pay is based on a number of factors which may include a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and work location. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation, such as the value of benefits, which may be applicable to this position.
