Catholic Charities of Baltimore is Hiring a STE Admissions Coordinator Near Baltimore, MD

Rate is 50k-$53k

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking an Admissions Coordinator who obtains required information and admit residents (“elders”) in an efficient manner in accordance with established facility policies and procedures and as directed by your supervisor.

St. Elizabeth Rehabilitation and Nursing Center provides a comprehensive array of individualized rehabilitation and nursing services, including short-term rehabilitation, skilled nursing care, memory care and in-patient hospice care.

The work schedule is Thursday - Monday 11am-7pm Off Tuesday and Wednesday 

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates the admissions inquiry process: takes phone calls, meets with families, and communicates relevant information to facilitate decision making process and follow up with families.
  • Maintains constant communication with Business Development, Director of Admissions, Nursing & Business Office including but not limited potential elders, new inquiries and priority inquiries.
  • With Admissions Team, identifies strategies for follow-up on pending referrals and prioritizes same.
  • Obtains all information necessary to make admission decision including patient data, insurance information and medical diagnosis.
  • Following the admission guidelines, approves admissions in the absence of the Director and communicates to the referral source, elder and/or their family, the approval or declination of the admission.
  • Assist in interviewing elders/guardians/sponsors and obtaining required admission information and signatures. Collect, assemble and review admission documentation for accuracy and completion.
  • Executes elder admission and welcome process, which includes but is not limited to, following up with elder’s family, physician and hospital to determine satisfaction with services and updates on the elder progress.
  • Respond to requests for medical record information by insurance companies, Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Administration (VA) or healthcare providers as authorized and in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) privacy and security requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Education

  • Associates degree . Can be substituted by experience 

Experience:

  • Three years of experience working in technical/project management and previous experience in office administration.
  • Knowledge of current Medicare/Medicaid regulations regarding admission/discharge requirements for long-term care facilities.
  • Must be proficient in word processing, email and spreadsheet applications (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • On-the-job training provided in admission procedures.

 REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, visitors and the general public.
  • Must be calm and levelheaded in emergencies.
  • Must possess the ability to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing admission practices.
  • Be able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Be knowledgeable in the use of computers, data input/retrieval/output functions, etc.
  • Must have patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm as well as must be willing to handle residents, staff and visitors based on whatever maturity level at which they are currently functioning.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Must be able to operate office, business and accounting machines.
  • Must be able to push, pull, move and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and be able to push, pull, move and/or carry such weight a minimum distance of 50 feet.
  • May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spaces.
  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
