Catholic Charities of Baltimore is Hiring a Medical Director, Esperanza Health Services Near Baltimore, MD

The Esperanza Center is a comprehensive immigration resource center whose mission is to help immigrants navigate life in a new country. Our dedicated staff and volunteers provide services related to education, healthcare, immigration legal matters, family reunification, and general community support to thousands of immigrants each year.

Catholic Charities of Baltimore is currently seeking a Medical Director (bilingual in Spanish and English) for Esperanza Center. As a member of the Esperanza Center's Leadership Team, the incumbent provides leadership and oversight of Esperanza Health Services, including a free primary care clinic, a free dental clinic, and grant-funded public health programming.

 JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures that all clinical assessment and care in assigned programs meets Agency and regulatory standards as well as supervises staff clinicians, managers, and provides medical oversight in coordination with the Staff Physician.
  • Provides clinical direction for all assessment, treatment planning, care, and evaluation activities necessary to create and maintain effective clinical programs.
  • Supervises Health Services staff, 5 – 9 employees, including the hiring, training, completion and delivery of performance reviews, according to policies and procedures while maintaining a patient-centered and trauma-informed environment of care.
  • Intervenes, as necessary, on issues relating to customer service complaints, health care providers' concerns, and operational issues.
  • Prepares and maintains goals and objectives for the clinic clients and maintains medical statistics and reports for performance management and grant requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Medical Degree (MD), Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician's Assistant (PA) required.
  • Requires four (4) years of healthcare experience, of which two (2) years must be in a supervisory or management role.
  • Knowledge of health care/ambulatory care management required.
  • Certification/Licensure: Active licensed medical provider in the State of Maryland, in good standing.

 REQUIREMENTS & ABILITIES:

  • Bilingual in Spanish: verbal and written required. 
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.
  • Excellent knowledge of case management and crisis intervention services.
  • Excellent communication skills including active listening.
  • Ability to travel to other locations for meetings.
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply cultural humility.
  • Ability to handle and maintain confidential information per HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to work successfully with a broad range of stakeholders, including patients, staff, volunteers and the community.
  • Ability to be patient and composed when working with children and interacting with parents.
  • Requires the ability to utilize computer systems and software necessary to perform position functions. Basic Windows PC, web browsing (i.e., Chrome, Internet Explorer, etc.), and Microsoft Outlook skills required. Other Microsoft Office application knowledge, such as Word, Excel PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive desired.

  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of the work assigned
