POSITION TITLE: Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator

DEPARTMENT: Outreach and Communications

REPORTS TO: Director of Outreach & Communications

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt, 40 Hours, (Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

ORGANIZATION PROFILE: Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego was founded in 1919 to provide service to those in need, to be a witness to the scriptural values of mercy, to advocate for justice, and to call all people of goodwill to join in these efforts. The agency responds to the needs of the poor in two counties of the Roman Catholic Diocese San Diego and Imperial.

POSITION SUMMARY : The Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator will work directly with the

Outreach and Communications Department to further our agency’s outreach efforts, assist with external communications, volunteer coordination, and in-kind donation pick-ups. This position will be responsible for the in-person interactions with volunteers and in-kind donors. The Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator will respond to in-kind donation inquiries and coordinate pick-ups in a timely manner. In addition, the coordinator role will also assist in outreach efforts such as attending community events representing the agency to promote resources to diverse and vulnerable populations in San Diego and Imperial counties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares exhibits, brochures, flyers, posters, and other materials for presentation to the public, and community agencies.
  • Represent the organization at community events, fairs, and networking opportunities to promote volunteerism and our mission.
  • Answers all in-kind donation inquiries and coordinates in-kind pickups and drop-offs.
  • Drives to pick up in-kind donations when needed.
  • Gather and draft client “stories” to capture the challenges and achievements of those served.
  • Utilize social media and other communication channels to enhance outreach efforts and engage the community.
  • Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, activities, and impact for reporting and grant purposes. Generate regular reports on volunteer engagement and outreach efforts for management and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with program managers to identify volunteer needs and deploy volunteers accordingly.
  • Monitor and evaluate volunteer performance, providing feedback and recognition as appropriate.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate’s/Bachelor’s Degree and/or relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of Catholic Charities services and resources.
  • Knowledge of/familiarity with or ability to quickly learn the resources and programs that are available within the community/county to assist seniors, homeless, and other indigent populations.
  • Knowledge of the community resources, health, and social services systems in Imperial County,
  • Ability to organize and plan own work.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
  • A flexible, pro-active approach to work including the ability to prioritize and re-prioritize.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ability to deal with sensitive information with discretion to maintain confidentiality and possess the skill to establish working relationships with community partners.
  • Knowledge of/familiarity with/sensitivity to the cultural background of populations served by Catholic Charities
  • Ability to conduct oneself in a professional manner.
  • Commitment to the mission and values associated with the agency and the program, including, social justice, respect for others, health, & and well-being.
  •  Bilingual in English and Spanish (Desired)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience speaking publicly in diverse forums.
  • Ability to learn and become proficient with Microsoft Office applications – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  1. Valid California Driver’s License and current automobile insurance in compliance with Agency requirements.
  2. Successful completion of a live scan, and Federal debarment requirements
  3. CPR or First Aid certification (Desired)
