Catholic Charities Dallas is Hiring a Major Gifts Officer Near Dallas, TX

This development position is primarily responsible for building and cultivating relationships that ultimately result in substantial financial gifts to CCD.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the development of relationships throughout our nine-county service community that expose and promote the mission and vision of Catholic Charities Dallas
  • Responsible to kindle and manage such relationships in a proactive, positive, professional, and diligent manner to build inspiration, trust and respect toward CCD and its many missions.
  • Availability and willingness to speak on behalf of CCD at various communities, parish, school, and civic environments.
  • Responsible to cultivate all relationships into participants at CCD specifically focused on soliciting gifts to support the missions and financial needs of CCD.
  • Responsible to develop a plan, timeline, and tactics to accomplish the responsibilities outlines here as well as specific goals as they are developed with the CDO and CEO
  • Cultivate and foster new donors, continued giving from existing donors and development of new donors for CCD.
  • Responsible for tracking all activities utilizing CCD procured software programs as well as personal excel or similar spreadsheets as needed.
  • Participate in the CCD Stewardship plan as assigned.
  • Help the team to achieve CCD annual goals.
  • Participate as a valued and respected member of the CCD Development team; pitch in when and where necessary to make sure that CCD overall goals are achieved and that the image and reputation of the agency is always upheld.
  • You will ensure that volunteers are wisely, carefully, and responsibly managed, all for the benefit of the clients we serve.
  • Availability to meet via TEAMS video or audio call as needed. ·
  • Attendance in person for regularly scheduled development team meetings and others as needed/requested. ·
  • Attendance at development events (Underwriting Kick-off, Breakfast with the Bishop, Gala Call-a-thons, etc.)
  • Professional attire is to be worn at all times.
  • Adherence and management of all sales software tools or requirements as they exist or may be amended.
  • Best efforts to spend quality office time at CCD Central Service Center to maintain good working rapport and relations with the development team and others.
  • Flexibility with assigned workstation / office space.
  • Continue weekly 1:1 meeting with supervisor to discuss weekly goals, meetings, opportunities, etc.
  • Work with supervisor to create monthly KPI metrics that are focused on the activities/performance needed to complete in order to hit the main $ financial goal to include: # of financial asks, # of deep cultivations (1:1 meetings with donors, cultivations where there is dialogue and next steps) and # of engagements (lighter touches such as invites to events, birthday cards/messages, emailing a client story/article or annual report, etc.)

OTHER DUTIES:

  • Serves as a resource and supporting team member to CCD development and program events as requested.
  • Supports and live the Mission, Values, and Vision of Catholic Charities.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with and protection of clients.
  • Complete required abuse prevention training (Safe Environment) and others, as required by program.
  • Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
  • Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high risk activities and supervising clients, as applicable.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s disciplinary procedures.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • CFRE or another fundraising certification a plus

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Seven years’ experience in major or planned gift giving and proven success
  • Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills for building lasting donor relationships. Must be able to represent CCD independently to potential donors and make compelling asks, when appropriate
  • Proven organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and produce high quality results quickly
  • Computer literate and experience with MS Office suite of products; donor database applications, preferably Raiser’s Edge; internet applications; ETO (outcomes database) experience a plus
  • Collaborative style that fosters workplace excellence and mutual staff support.
  • Highly motivated; able to work independently and as part of a team and with energy, optimism, and persistence.
  • Experience with setting ambitious goals and achieving results.
  • Adherence to applicable professional and agency Codes of Ethics.

  • Background Check: This position requires a criminal background check.
  • Health: pre-employment drug screen is required
  • Language requirements: Spanish or other language skills a plus
