Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans is Hiring a Therapy Manager- Physical Therapist Near Orleans, LA

Job Summary:

PACE of Greater New Orleans (www.pacegno.org) is searching for a new team member to join and lead the Therapy Department as a full-time Physical Therapist and Department Manager. If you are excited about working with the elderly, energetic, organized, and responsible, please consider this opportunity. In this role, you will evaluate and assess mobility levels and other functional abilities of our PACE participants. The physical therapist will provide therapeutic treatments, develop individual and group wellness exercise programs for participants while overseeing the therapy program and staff at PACE Greater New Orleans.

Qualifications:

Must have a minimum of Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy and be a licensed physical therapist in the state of Louisiana in good standing. Have at least 2 years' experience managing a therapy staff and clinic. Minimum one year experience working with a frail/elderly population. Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation. Demonstrate clinical competency with geriatric population. Display excellent leadership and organizational skills. Demonstrate exceptional communication skills in both one-on-one settings, group settings, and public speaking. Efficient with multi-tasking and effective time management skills. Should be able to work effectively in a team environment, train team members, delegate responsibilities, and able to manage daily staff schedules. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and able to use the internet and internet based apps, comfortable using computers and tablets, and willing to learn computer based programs for documenting and planning.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as a member of the PACE Interdisciplinary team (IDT) to regularly inform the interdisciplinary team of the medical, functional, and psychosocial condition of each participant.
  • Documents changes in condition in the participant's medical record consistent with documentation policies established by the medical director.
  • Perform an initial comprehensive assessment and help develop a personalized plan of care for the participants.
  • Attends morning huddles, IDT meetings, and participates in the coordination and documentation of care plans.
  • Conducts assessments and therapy evaluations of all participants' physical condition and functional status as required.
  • Develops physical therapy treatment program when indicated, sets goals, intervention, and timeline for plan of treatment.
  • Maintains proper documentation, performs timely reassessments, and discharges participants when appropriate in coordination with PTA and support staff.
  • Provides supervision to program aides and other staff who are implementing a PT treatment program.
  • Reviews, completes, and coordinates participant therapy assessments and discharge plans for PACE participants in various settings including hospital, inpatient rehab, and skilled nursing. Visits care facilities and/or participant homes to monitor progress and further assess.
  • Follows up on fall reports as determined by providers.
  • Plans and develops wellness, maintenance, exercise, and therapy programs in coordination with the Wellness coordinator for both PACE centers.
  • Provides training to participants, families, caregivers, and PACE staff members for those parts of the treatment plan that can be carried out by them.
  • Supervises and manages all Therapy Department employed and contract staff.
  • Maintains and orders therapy gym equipment, exercise machines, supplies, and stock at both PACE facilities.
  • Oversees ordering and maintenance of participants' assistive devices, wheelchairs, orthotics/prosthetics, home accessibility equipment, and other DME as needed.
  • Tracks staff schedules, caseloads, approves leave requests, and time sheets submitted by contracted therapy staff.
  • Posts jobs, interview, and hire for all therapy team positions and vacancies.

  4. Probability for emergency or crisis to occur.

Physical Requirements:

  • Commute to and from business meetings, multiple PACE centers, participant homes, and care facilities.
  • He/she may be expected to assist with participant transfers, lifts, moving and handling gym equipment, and/or supplies.
  • Walk or stand for long periods.
  • Climb stairs if necessary.

All candidates for employment with CCANO must submit to a criminal records check as a condition of employment. 

New employees will be required to complete a criminal background check prior to employment.

Compliance with the State of LA Child Protection Act and Archdiocese Policy on Abuse and Neglect, to provide for the safety and security of all clients served by CCANO programs. 

Certain programs require additional background checks in addition to the Archdiocesan check. These may include the "State Police Check " and

" The Department of Education".
