We serve tens of thousands of people each year in seven ministries: Marisol Services, Early Childhood Education, Shelter Services, Catholic Charities Housing, St. Raphael Counseling, Family, Kinship, and Senior Services; and Parish & Community Engagement.

PURPOSE OF POSITION

Reporting to the Vice President Marketing & Community Engagement, this position is responsible for supporting ecumenical and volunteer outreach for the benefit of Catholic Charities. The ideal candidate: builds and develops relationships and communication channels with key stakeholders across Catholic Charities, the ecumenical community, with community partners and supports volunteer management and growth within the agency.

This position requires someone who is a servant leader, is mission-focused and has a can-do spirit. The most successful candidate will be someone whose initiative is off the charts, has a heart for teamwork and exudes compassion when dealing with our participants, volunteers and staff. The Volunteer Outreach Specialist will work hand in hand with the Manager of Volunteer Coordinators and is a front-facing, community-oriented and task-oriented team player who is highly respected by leaders across the community, builds and grows connections in the ecumenical community; organizes and leads drives like the Women’s Care Project and Adopt-A-Family; and has great interest in and capacity to take on new challenges and projects.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages onsite groups and is at the ministry to welcome groups and coordinate their participation both in advance and on the ground.
  • Leads ecumenical outreach including, but not limited to, LDS, Black 14, random donations (turkeys! Hams! Shoes!)
  • Coordinates tech piece of Give Pulse in concert with other agency leaders.
  • Special focus on our Catholic Charities Housing properties and ministries without a current VC, in concert with manger of volunteer coordinators.
  • Possible Adopt-A-Family coordination.
  • Develop and provide outreach, messaging and opportunities for ecumenical groups and the general community to learn about Catholic Charities and ministries available to them.
  • Maintains professional ties with other service organizations/boards/committees for the program's benefit.
  • With internal team support, guide and organize once-a-year outreach collections like (Adopt-a-Family)
  • Assist and support ministries with specific drive requests of the communities throughout the year (diapers/backpacks/underwear/food). Help promote the need, assist parishes and groups with messaging and organization, and work to support with collection and distribution.
  • Maintains consistent communication with manager of volunteer coordinators and work in constant collaboration.
  • Assists with volunteer management database and reporting systems to support volunteer recruitment, placement, hours and performance tracking, records and recognition.
  • Ability to utilize volunteer relationship management (VRM) platform for the organization. Direct and manage accurate and complete volunteer records are maintained through the VRM platform (currently VolunteerHub).
  • Fills in for volunteer coordinators at ministries as needed.
  • Collaborates with manager of volunteer coordinators to create a high quality and efficient recruitment, training, oversight, administration and recognition process for volunteers throughout the Agency.
  • Collects and produces marketing materials about volunteers in concert with entire marketing team.
  • Supports, promotes and adheres to Catholic Charities’ vision, mission, values and Code of Ethics.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage all aspects of complex volunteer program.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including ability to make presentations and speak in front of groups.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft office suite, and database management systems.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail-oriented and self-directed.
  • Knowledge of the service population’s cultural and socioeconomic characteristics and the appropriate techniques and practices for the client population.
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and independently with Agency staff and with a diverse client base.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English and Spanish, including speaking, listening, reading and writing is preferred.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from accredited four-year college or university; and two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:

Salary:$23.00 per hour. 40 hours per week
