Catawba Valley Community College is Hiring a Technical Support, Operations, and Services Technician Near Hickory, NC

To assist in the operations of the Technology S.O.S. department, providing technical assistance and support to users who encounter problems with their computer hardware, software, telecommunication, or other electronic devices. Other responsibilities include setting up, operating, and maintaining audiovisual equipment used for events, presentations, meetings, or entertainment purposes and providing technical support to users during presentations or events. Also included in this role is working with a team in the development, maintenance, and performance of the CVCC website. Receives direction from the Director of Technology Support, Operations, and Services.May exercise direct supervision over college work-study staff. Installing, configuring, and maintaining computer hardware, peripherals, and software applications.Setting up and configuring audiovisual equipment such as microphones, speakers, projectors, displays, according to technical specifications and client requirements.Responding to user inquiries and troubleshooting technical issues via phone, email, or in person. This includes diagnosing hardware and software problems and providing guidance on resolving them.Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users before, during, and after events or presentations. This may involve resolving equipment malfunctions, adjusting settings, or troubleshooting connectivity issues.Providing training and guidance to users on how to effectively use computer systems, software applications, and audiovisual equipment. This may involve creating user manuals or conducting training sessions.Maintaining accurate records of technical issues, resolutions, and system configurations. This includes documenting troubleshooting procedures and creating user guides or manuals.Managing website content, including text, images, videos, and multimedia assets.Performing routine maintenance tasks such as software updates, security patches, and backups to ensure the security and integrity of the website.Monitoring website performance, uptime, and responsiveness, and troubleshooting technical issues as they arise.Other duties as assigned. EducationAA in Computer Science/Information Technology or another relevant field.Knowledge of: Computer hardware, peripherals, and networking technologiesSoftware applications and productivity toolsAudiovisual equipment such as mixers, amplifiers, projectors, and displaysAudiovisual standards and protocols (e.g., HDMI, SDI, DMX) Web development languages and technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP)Content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress, Drupal, or Joomla
