The Human Resources Business Partner (aka “People Team Business Partner” or PTBP) will be joining our entrepreneurial and service-focused team. You will be responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in our Industrial Group and San Antonio Business Units. The position formulates partnerships across the People/HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of Catamount. The PTBP maintains an effective level of awareness about the business unit’s culture, competition for talent, and other related objectives.

What to expect in the role:

The PTBP will serve as a champion for all People Team-related initiatives and programs for the business unit:

  • Work closely with the People Team to help execute broader Catamount initiatives at a local level.
  • Provide HR guidance to local management. Analyze trends and metrics in partnerships with the larger People Team to develop solutions, programs, and policies. Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to local management.
  • Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation as needed. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations as needed. Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partner with in-house counsel as needed/required.
  • Partner with the People Team to identify training needs for business unit. Coordinate with local experts to help execute needed operational and technical trainings. Participate in evaluation and monitoring of training programs to ensure success. Follow up to ensure training objectives are met.

The PTBP will perform vital talent acquisition and onboarding functions for the business unit:

  • Work closely with local management to determine the needs of future hires. Recruit for key talent using a variety of sources, including external employment agencies, search firms, etc. Schedule and attend career fairs with others to generate qualified applicants.
  • Coordinate local interviews, and support hiring administration process (e.g., screening assessments, documentation) for local business. Collaborate with other Talent Acquisition team members to build and sustain a best in class hiring process for the business.
  • Coordinate the onboarding process for new hires, creating a positive experience for new talent. Coordinate the onboarding schedule, working with the appropriate hiring manager and teams to effectively present position-focuses content/curriculum over a ‘100 Day’ onboarding program.

Position Requirements

What kind of person are we looking for? Someone with:

  • At least 5-7 years of human resource management experience, demonstrating the ability to resolve complex employee relations issues act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably within the Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), or ability to obtain within one year of employment
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including employee relations, diversity, performance management, and federal and state respective employment laws
  • Excellent communication skills (listening, writing, interpersonal) with the ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with a broad group of stakeholders to foster trust and partnership
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and TMS

Compensation:

In addition to offering a competitive base salary, Catamount employees are eligible for additional incentives for merit/performance, project incentives*, new hire referrals, and business development commissions. *Project incentives are limited to certain roles in Operations.
