Position Title: Packaging Operator - 2nd Shift

Reports to: Production Manager

Location: 1720 Peachtree Industrial Blvd Suite A, Buford, GA 30518

FLSA Status: Non-exempt

General Job Description

Under the direction of the manager/supervisor/lead person, the packaging operator is to ensure that the quality and quantity of packaged goods conform to the standards of Catalyst Nutraceuticals. The packaging operator handles functions such as starting up and shutting down machines and ensuring the sanitation of the packaging equipment they are responsible for. Specific responsibilities for the role include.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Required to competently operate packaging equipment independently as well as within a team environment
  • Must be able to comprehend manuals and operational instructions for different types of packaging machines.
  • Match all labels with batch records
  • Must be able to document packaging process information as per sop.
  • Monitor packaging line operation periodically and report any abnormal conditions to the manager.
  • Complies with company policies and procedures and maintains regular work attendance.
  • Personal responsibility for following safety rules, FDA, and OSHA regulations, SOAPs and cGMP guidelines.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Handle startup and shut down duties pertaining to packaging equipment at the beginning and end of each shift.
  • Responsible for packaging integrity and quality checks on each packaging order.
  • Monitor correct product weights and ensure that they are maintained throughout the shift.
  • Handle/discard waste that packaging machineries edict in a safe manner.
  • Educate workers on exercising caution to avoid accidents and prevent injuries.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area by ensuring that floors are clean and organized appropriately.
  • Assist in developing sops and handle reviews of manufacturing batch records.
  • Tend to be packaging machines by using appropriate controls to package different items.
  • Load and unload items into packaging machines and remove rejected packages to be isolated as surplus.
  • Secure packaged items by gluing, taping, tying, stapling, or attaching fasteners.
  • Sort, label, grade and inspect packaged products.
  • Stack packaged items in storage areas or on delivery pallets using jack pallets or forklifts.

Qualifications

Education:

  • High School education, or GED

Experience:

  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to perform the physical labor necessary.
  • Strong organizational and efficiency skills.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Previous completed training in CGMP standards and guidelines.

Key Competencies(Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Ability to operate forklifts to move packages from one place to another
  • Previous completed training in CGMP standards and guidelines
  • Extensive knowledge in breakdown, cleaning, setup, and repair of packaging machines

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Skills & Abilities

Ability to complete paperwork. Basic computer skills required. Excellent organizational, planning and attention to detail. Initiative to complete tasks on time with minimal supervision required. Good communication and interpersonal skills required.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Assists with communicating safety information to new employees. Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.
