  • Position Summary
    • Under the supervision of the Clinic Nurse Manager, the Clinic CMA/LPN will provide competent compassionate service while assisting with patient care: including scheduling, nursing care, and patient care follow up. They utilize the nursing process in maintaining standards of care for professional nursing practice.

  • Education and Experience Requirements
    • EDUCATION:
      • Required:
        • Valid Certification as Medical Assistant or Graduate of Accredited School of Licensed Practical Nursing
      • Preferred:
    • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
      • Required:
        • Current Iowa nursing license or certification as Medical Assistant
        • BLS within six months of hire
        • Valid Drivers License
      • Preferred:
    • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
      • Required:
        • Ability to be flexible and handle multiple patients
        • Excellent customer service skills
      • Preferred:
        • Physician clinic experience
  • Essential Job Functions
    • Assess patients physical, psychological, social, and environmental status specific to age when placing patient in room or on the phone. Obtain patient information and document with each patient visit vitals, medication list, allergies, and reason for visit entering patient information correctly and non-objectively in the electronic chart . Having information and supplies needed for each patient visit ready.
    • Administer medications as ordered by the providers, preforming and assisting with treatments and procedures as ordered by the providers. Collects specimens and accurately labels and routes to the appropriate lab for analysis per lab and provider specifications.
    • Schedules appointments, tests, referrals, and other services as ordered by the providers. Documenting and following up with all results in the EMR, contacting the patient by fax, phone, in person or by mail, providing results per the provider’s interpretation and direction.
    • Prioritize patient needs when putting them in rooms when immediate care is needed by the provider due to patient symptoms, demonstrating the ability to function in an accurate and precise manner in crisis or emergent situations.
    • Provide patient education as directed by the provider, having knowledge of all forms needed for services rendered in Cass Health and how to complete them or assist patient to do so. Ability to use and locate patient information, patient request forms and education materials in the electronic chart. Provide appropriate teaching to the patient, family, and or care giver.
    • Answer providers phone lines with ability to take messages and transfer calls to the appropriate person or voice mail. Return all patient calls recording information in the EMR, messaging to the appropriate person or responding to the patient with an answer if able and documenting as such. Provide appropriate follow up to assure patient needs are met.
    • Cleaning and disinfecting of instruments and other equipment per protocol. Packaging and autoclaving of instruments for sterility in a timely manner. General cleaning and maintenance per schedule posted daily, weekly, and monthly, quarterly etc.
    • Perform other duties as needed.
