Cass Health is Hiring a Same Day Surgery RN Near Atlantic, IA

  • Position Summary
    • Schedule is Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm, no call is required.
    • The Same Day Surgery RN delivers care to patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures. The RN addresses the psychological, socio-cultural needs and education to surgical patients and their support person(s). Care begins when patient is informed that they need an operative or invasive procedure and ends when they return to usual roles and responsibilities.
  • Education and Experience Requirements
    • EDUCATION:
      • Required:
        • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
      • Preferred:
        • BSN
    • LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
      • Required:
        • Valid Iowa Nursing license or from a reciprocating state
        • ACLS, BLS, PALS, & NRP Training
      • Preferred:
    • TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
      • Required:
        • Ability to take appropriate action in response to changes, problems, emergency situations
        • Ability to read and understand oral and written instructions
        • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills
        • Basic computer knowledge
        • Excellent customer service skills
        • Demonstrates accountability and flexibility when interacting with others
      • Preferred:
        • One year of surgical experience
  • Essential Job Functions
    • Provides patient care through the use of the Nursing Process. Uses clinical judgment and critical thinking skills to differentiate expected from unexpected responses in the patient’s condition.
    • Documents the delivery of care in a concise, accurate and timely manner.
    • Demonstrates fiscal responsibility in time management, resources and use of supplies.
    • Focuses on patient safety and maintains clinical competencies as required for all assigned areas as appropriate to scope and training. Advocates for patient.
    • Participates as a member of a supportive and collaborative team.
    • Maintains knowledge of and adheres to AORN Recommended Practices.
    • Maintains knowledge of and adheres to Surgery Policies and Procedures.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.
