Cascades Job Corps is a residential Trade Program that serves underprivileged youth 16-24.

Position Dental Assistant

Reports To Health & Wellness Director

Department Health & Wellness

FLSA STATUS Hourly Non-Exempt (Part-Time)

Primary Position Objectives Assists the Center Dentist in providing services and promotes oral health and wellness.

Position Information

  • Salary-$22.78-$22.79/hourly
  • Assist Center Dentist in providing preventative dental education
  • Assist Center Dentist in coordination and integration of dental health program with other health components and Center activities
  • Schedule and maintain the dental priority system
  • Comply with OSHA requirements
  • Maintain dental equipment and supplies to assure proper function and operation
  • Maintain compliance with policies and procedures of infection control
  • Perform quality assurance record audits
  • Participate in department system for student feedback or concerns
  • Maintain dental records
  • Maintain dental statistics for dental productivity and monthly utilization reports
  • Observe current policies on health, safety, and security
  • Notify proper authorities of circumstances or situations that present possible health hazards
  • Cooperate in external/internal investigations as requested
  • Work towards meeting performance management goals
  • Follow the CDSS/CSS/BMS plans and procedures daily
  • Work towards meeting performance standard goals
  • Adhere to required property control policies and procedures
  • Maintain good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices
  • Comply with all DOL guidelines, OFCCP regulation, Quality Assurance Plan (QAP), LifeSkills Connection's policies and procedures, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and Center policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate and abide by LifeSkills Connection’s core values and operating principles
  • Model appropriate employability skills for dress, language, and work habits
  • Help students become more employable through continuous reinforcement
  • Participate in PRH mandated staff training; Failure to participate may result in disciplinary actions up to and including termination
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Present information both clearly and concisely and regularly confirms correct interpretation of information
  • Very high standard of communication skills both written and oral for the presentation of facts and ideas
  • Written communication must be clear, concise, easy to read and comprehend

Organization of Work

  • Demonstrate the ability to handle several projects simultaneously
  • Implement the key principles of time management, task allocation and priority assignment in addition to personal organization
  • Continually seek ways to improve the service provided via development of professional skills and personal growth
  • Initiate and respond to suggestions for improving service

Qualifications

Knowledge of dental terminology and standard procedures Proficiency with advanced Microsoft Office applications including Word, Power Point and Excel

Experience

Three to six months related experience and/or training is preferred

Education

One-year certificate from a college or technical school, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certified to take x-rays
  • Certified by the state Board of Dentistry
  • Valid State Driver’s License with acceptable driving record

Work Environment The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level can vary from moderate to loud.

As a federal contractor, selected candidates are required to pass the following pre-employment requirements prior to beginning employment: Employment contingent upon passing background check and a pre-employment drug test. (This position is considered a safety sensitive position; therefore, the pre-employment drug test includes testing for marijuana). Positive test results will exclude an applicant from being hired.

All selected candidates after hire will receive CPR/First Aid Certification and Narcan Administration training within the first 90 days of employment. All employees are responsible for the safety of the students and may be required to provide provisional emergency services in the event of an emergency.
