Scope of Responsibility
Cascade Engineering has an opening for a Front Line Leader. This position will be responsible for quality, cost, and delivery of products produced by the production team for their assigned shift. Provide daily direction and leadership to their team and ensure they can effectively do their jobs. Responsible for KPIs crucial to the success of the shift, including safety, OEE, utilization, scrap, overtime, 6S, continuous improvement, and retention/turnover. Responsible for their team members' training, coaching, promotion, and development. Also responsible for the enforcement of company policies, handling employee concerns, and issuing discipline in conjunction with their HR partners. Reports to the Plant Manager at the Buursma Plant.
Location: Buursma Plant(4950 37th St, Grand Rapids, MI 49512)
Shift: Day Shift from 6am - 6:10pm (rotation working 3 days one week, 4 days the next and every other weekend)
Target Pay: $54,568 - 75,030
What You'll Be Doing
Day to Day - Deliver on established KPIs, including reduced turnover and improved overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) related to machine downtime, scrap, external ppm, on time completion of first piece approvals, labor efficiency, customer concerns, on-time delivery, schedule attainment, and on time performance reviews (including PFC audits). Plan labor according to the production schedule to meet our customer demands while maintaining high product quality. Lead and/or participate in data driven root-cause problem solving activities that drive improvements for established KPI's
Team Collaboration - Responsible for delivering all important communication via pre-shift meetings, shift meetings, and to incoming and outgoing shifts, and completing End of Shift reporting. Work closely with leaders and departments to ensure company goals and polices are implemented. Enforce and administer company policies with HR partners, giving timely and appropriate performance feedback in a fair and consistent manner. Understands all product quality expectations for each part and ensures compliance to quality standards (ISO, TS16949, IATF, etc.), work instructions, and procedures. Maintain employee records via payroll/time and attendance systems and approve employee vacation requests. Ability to navigate and understand CE's ERP (QAD), MES (MODS), and Human Resources Information Systems (UKG)
Training and Development - Coach and mentor new and existing employees and create a team environment that emphasizes inclusiveness and accountability. Actively welcome new employees and engage in onboarding activities. Ensure all employee training and progression documents, including PFC audits and applications for training are completed accurately and in a timely manner. Communicate with supporting departments regarding employee pay or benefits issues. Responsible for maintaining housekeeping and safety conditions, reviewing all accidents/incidents paperwork for accuracy, completing investigations as required, and involving support departments as needed. Optimize workstation layout for maximum efficiency and ergonomics, ensure workstation has proper tools
Continuous Improvement - Emphasize and show commitment to continuous improvement by eliminating variation in the production process and implementation of improvements in alignment with the company's strategy deployment process, specifically supporting the execution of the strategic objectives for the assigned plant and shift and issues identified through the plant mission center room. Participates in leadership forums and leadership development classes and completes all required trainings. Other duties as identified or assigned

Requirements
  • High School diploma/GED
  • 2-5 years supervising, coaching, and developing staff
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills, conflict management/resolution skills
  • Demonstrated team building, coaching, training, and counseling skills
  • Strong communication, presentation, and leadership skills
  • Experience with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of quality systems (ISO, TS16949, IATF, etc.)
  • Large degree of self-initiative and ability to work with minimal direction

Preferred Education, Experience and Core Competency Requirements
  • Bachelors with 1-2 years of experience supervising, coaching, and developing staff.
  • Experience and understanding of plastic properties and behavior under molding conditions and plastic injection molding equipment.
  • Experience in completing process documentation, experience in process control, and first piece approvals and quality documents.
  • Experience in supporting the Technical team in activities such as color changes, mold changes, writing deviations, and other processing tasks.
  • Proficient in both English and Spanish or other language
