Cascade AIDS Project (CAP) is the oldest and largest AIDS Service Organization (ASO) in Oregon and Southwest Washington, as well as a Federally Qualified Health Center (Look-A-Like) that provides the LGBTQ community and beyond with compassionate healthcare. CAP’s mission is to promote well-being and advance equity by providing inclusive health and wellness services for LGBTQ people, people affected by HIV, and all those seeking compassionate care. Our House provides integrated health and housing services to people with HIV. Guided by compassion, we provide 24-hour specialized care, supportive services, and independent housing support services. The Our House Residential Care Facility (RCF) is a team of expert clinicians who work with people living with HIV who are having difficulty managing independent living. By tailoring nursing, social work, and therapeutic everyday activities our clients and residents are able to define what ‘living well’ means to them.

CAP is excited to announce that we are hiring an experienced Registered Nurse (RN). The RN position is responsible for performing the primary function of a Registered Nurse assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the care of Our House residents and providing direct care to the residents as well as environmental care of the facility by performing the following duties.

  • The licensed nurse is responsible for directing and coordinating resident care as directed by the service plan, physician orders and clinical judgement.
  • Maintains accurate records of care provided or omitted in each resident’s electronic record.
  • Provides direct resident care while promoting the resident’s dignity, independence, and choice.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Performs nursing procedures in accordance with licensure and skill level, utilizing principles of safety and infection control.
  • Ability to explain treatments and conditions to patients of all ages and diverse populations.
  • Provides assistance with activities of daily living.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Works in collaboration with resident’s primary care provider, clinical staff, and support system.
  • Administers and documents medications and treatments using electronic medication administration records.
  • Contributes to the evaluation of the resident for appropriateness of care, medications, and treatments, as well as their response to the service plan.
  • Coordinates revisions of the service plan as needed and assists in implementing planned changes and activities to improve the quality of resident care.
  • Initiate standing orders per Our House policy and required documentation.
  • Documents nursing care, observations, signs and symptoms, communication with team and providers, ADL assistance, and any other information as it applies to the resident’s physical, emotional, and social well-being.
  • Advocates for resident’s rights and quality care with providers.
  • Assists with orientation and training of new employees.
  • Educates residents, staff, volunteers, and students on aspects of nursing care relevant to residents under the scope of RN practice.
  • Provides direction and information to co-workers and volunteers.
  • Assists with admission and discharge process.
  • Participates in shift planning with floor staff immediately after report.
  • Delivers a complete, clear, concise report at end of shift.
  • Reports and documents incidents, accidents, and errors.
  • Upholds resident rights, goals, house rules, and philosophy of Our House.
  • Attends nursing staff meetings and in-services.
  • Assists with the upkeep and cleaning of the building, including resident rooms, living room, kitchen, laundry, etc.
  • Assists with keeping the nursing area organized by stocking supplies, keeping the work area clean and organized, filing, etc.
  • Respects and maintains privacy, confidentiality, and appropriate boundaries of residents, staff, and volunteers.
  • Maintains professional standards for licensure and current CPR certification.
  • Maintains punctual, regular, and predictable attendance.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor.

NOTE: This is a non-management, union-represented position. The compensation, benefits, and conditions of work for this position are collectively bargained. 

COMPENSATION: $38.04 an hour Shift differentials - $1 per evening and weekend shifts

This is a 0.7 FTE PositionSunday-Tuesday and every other Wednesday 6:30am-3:00pm

  • CPR certified or the ability to become certified within 30 days.
  • Computer proficiency in using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, EMAR) and working knowledge of the internet.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues in a professional environment to best serve the needs of the residents.
  • Excellent bedside manner and communication skills
  • Motivation to work with persons living with HIV, Substance Use Disorder (SUD) or behavioral health supports and require all levels of care.
  • Commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace or community settings.
  • Desire and ability to engage in equity and inclusion initiatives and discussions in the workplace, including but not limited to: engaging in training workshops, team and department meetings, and commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace or community setting.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Unencumbered nursing license in the state of Oregon
  • Basic Life Support card
  • Ability to pass DHS background check.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • One year of relevant nursing experience preferred.
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain professional relationships across a multicultural spectrum of organizations and professionals, including community partners and funders.
  • Commitment to advancing equity and inclusion in workplace or community settings.
  • Experience working with People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) and/or people with disabilities, chronic illness and/or other barriers to independent living.
  • Lived experience of systemic oppression and non-dominant cultures. We encourage applications from Black, Indigenous, and other people of color; transgender, non-binary, and other LGBTQ people; and people with disabilities, including HIV.
  • Knowledge of benefits programs available to People Living with HIV.
  • Successful experience working with ethnic, racial, economic, and sexually diverse populations and strong understanding of issues relevant to gay/bisexual/queer/transgender individuals, the larger LBGTQ community, and how those issues affect or influence service delivery.

Any non-temporary full-time or part-time employee (working .5FTE or greater) is considered eligible for the benefits. Benefits may be adjusted based on FTE or hours worked. The below benefits are for 1.0 FTE or 40 hours a week.
