Job Summary

The Child & Family Therapist is responsible for clinically evaluating and assessing situations of culturally diverse families. In addition, providing group and/or individual therapy, either in the client's home or at the agency depending on program and/or assignment. The Therapist will maintain clinical files, complete required progress reports, and will work cooperatively with school programs, referral agencies, and other outside resources.


Part-time and Full-time positions available


Essential Duties

  • Conducts thorough and ongoing child/family strengths and needs assessments, utilizing the program specific protocol.
  • Assists clients in securing a variety of social services.
  • Provides complete documentation and reporting of all client services in accordance with regulatory, contractual, and organization requirements. This includes timely submittal of notes.
  • Provides effective crisis management, to include following the program triage protocol and treatment methods, responding in a timely manner, providing for follow-up care, assessing and providing appropriate responses, and handling the situation calmly.
  • Engages the child/family using fluidity techniques for taking position of different family members as needed.
  • Builds rapport and credibility simultaneously with varying members/age groups. Relates to variety of individuals with warmth, empathy, acceptance, and humor.
  • Develops and implements successful intervention techniques, including identifying the treatment method, establishing treatment plans that identify problems, goals, and measurable objectives that are achievable in a reasonable time frame, interventions/strategies that address the assessment issues, and maintains timely progress notes that reflect movement towards goals/objectives.
  • Plans for client treatment discharge/termination including establishing treatment plans that addresses projected length of care and discharge criteria, helping the family plan and prepare for discharge needs, maintaining progress notes that reflect movement towards goals/objectives. Makes follow-up referral as needed.
  • Conducts educational activities to promote client understanding of treatment issues, including medication, diagnosis, parenting skills.
  • Interfaces with DCS regarding child well-being, family stability, and case planning.
  • Testifies in Juvenile Court as to case services and recommendations for holistic family outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, which are consistent with the general responsibilities of the position.
  • Must meet organization productivity targets.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy or a 60 unit graduate degree in an equivalent program of study.
  • Proof of COVID immunization.
  • Must be able to provide own transportation to and from clients' homes and/or other relevant organizations or agencies.
  • Bilingual preferred.
  • CPR/ First Aid certification required.
  • Must be able to meet training and organization requirements for the position.
