Cary Cardiology is Hiring a Registered Cardiac Sonographer Near Cary, NC

Our growing Cardiology practice is seeking to add an eager, self-motivated cardiac sonographer for our office team. This is a Monday through Friday position with no call requirements!

The successful candidate would enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and would possess the ability to multitask in a high volume atmosphere. They would be skilled in echocardiograms, stress echo, and bubble studies. Our sonographers work as part of a team oriented environment, but work closely with our clinicians to provide outstanding care for our patient population.

Candidates for this position should be self-starters and have excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate would possess the ability to work well on their own, but also to work well as part of a team as this position will require the flexibility of both. They will also possess the skill sets and experience necessary to perform both cardiac and vascular studies. Our vascular program offers growth opportunity as it continues to evolve and expand.

We are seeking an individual that would provide services to our patients in our Cary location.

Position Requirements:

Associate or Bachelor Degree preferred

BLS required (if not available must be acquired within 6 mo.)

ACLS may be required after employment

Credentialed with ARDMS or CCI

RDCS or RCS Required

Cardiology experience preferred

EPIC EHR experience preferred

Position Duties Include:

  • The central role of the cardiac sonographer is utilizing medical imaging technology to capture images of patients’ hearts and vascular function using high-frequency sound waves.
  • Inspect images and select which ones to save based on image clarity and variety of other factors.
  • Inform physician of urgent cases for review while the physician is still in the office.
  • Utilize knowledge and expertise to assist physicians in pointing out abnormalities and areas with problems with cardiac function.
  • Answer patient questions regarding procedure and equipment. Adequately explain the procedure prior to performing studies.
  • Act as a liaison between patient and physician and nursing team.
  • Maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring functionality and reporting issues to supervision.
  • Use proper cleaning and storage procedures to prevent damage to equipment.
  • All sonographers will perform echocardiogram, echocardiogram with bubble study, carotid ultrasound, vascular screening, and stress echocardiogram per ICAEL standards and established office protocols.
  • Additional studies include: abdominal aorta doppler, arterial dopplers, venous dopplers, venous reflux/insufficiency studies, pseudoaneurysm rule out/groin study, venous ablation, sclerotherapy, and venaseal procedures. May also assist with difficult SAP/PVR studies. (All dependent upon training, experience, and skill level).
  • Cleaning and stocking exam rooms when necessary.
  • Utilize the Epic Cupid Tech Worklist to begin and end exams which allows for proper dictation by physician and billing information to transfer within the system.
  • Review orders for all study appointments along with valid diagnosis.
  • Ensure orders are linked to appointments and accession numbers populate at check-in to ensure images will merge properly from HeartLab system into the patient’s Epic chart.
  • Follow office protocols regarding physician assignment, chart placement for dictation, and input of correct information into the HeartLab system.
  • Maintain a current study log which will be provided to the billing department on a monthly basis to ensure no visits are missing in the billing work queue.
  • Participate in quality assurance program and complete all studies according to ICAEL protocol.
  • Maintain and observe all OSHA standards.
  • Other duties may be assigned by supervisor as needed.
