CARTA is Hiring a Chief of Staff Near San Francisco, CA

The Problems You’ll Solve

As the Chief of Staff for Henry Ward, Chief Executive Officer at Carta, you will tackle critical challenges that are pivotal to the success of Carta. You'll be instrumental in shaping strategy for the next phase of growth for a high performing organization that’s shaping the future of private markets. Key problems you'll solve include:

  • Providing Leverage: Work with Henry and the Executive Team to provide him with institutional grade leverage that allows him to move Carta forward as a Company. Serve as Henry’s voice both inside and outside of Carta
  • Strategy Leadership: Collaborate with Henry and the Executive Team to continue to advance Carta’s vision, ensuring alignment with overall company goals. Translate the vision into actionable strategies and initiatives and communicate that vision to the Company and market.
  • Executive Projects: Drive the inception and development of new projects for the Executive Team, taking them from 0 to 1, and subsequently building and managing teams to scale initiatives from 1 to N.
  • Scale the Office of the CEO and Carta: Play a vital role in developing the Office of the CEO; helping to maximize Henry’s time and efficiency as a CEO. You will also be involved with broader Carta organizational management, developing higher-level organizational strategies that align with the overarching vision. Contribute to structuring the organization to support the company's growth objectives.

The Team You’ll Work With

As the Chief of Staff for Henry you're stepping into a role where you get to tackle exciting and impactful challenges for the company. This is a highly visible and collaborative role that will be core to the operation of the company and to Henry’s day to day. 

You will be an integral part of Carta, working closely with Henry and the Executive Team, as well as other cross-functional leaders. Collaboration and communication will be paramount, as you navigate the dynamic landscape of Carta.

Successful candidates for the Chief of Staff role know that this is not an easy role. It will require you to have stamina and work at the pace Henry works, it will require a strategic mindset and knowledge of Carta’s industries and strategy, and will require someone with outlier IQ and EQ. In particular, the role requires:

  • Strategic Thinking: You understand large macroeconomic and technology trends that are shaping the world of private capital and able to distill those concepts into discreet strategies for Carta
  • Extraordinary Hustle: You are hard-charging, ensuring that Henry’s initiatives are brought to life
  • Exceptional Project Management and Prioritization: You have a strong sense of prioritization for a large scale, high growth organization like Carta, and can effectively juggle multiple projects at once
  • Quantitative Nature With Qualitative Communication: You make decisions based on data, but are able to communicate effectively with different types of stakeholders at a 2,000 person organization
  • Adaptability: You are adaptable to different management philosophies and working styles, recognizing the importance of compatibility in a Chief of Staff partnership
  • High Empathy: You have strong empathy and ability to navigate complex organizational dynamics and build strong relationships and consensus in the process
  • Sound Judgment: You exhibit sound and reasonable judgment, providing Henry and the rest of the executive team with a quality sounding board for high value decisions
  • Intellectual Curiosity and Ambitious: You consistently seek to learn and advance your skillset across a variety of disciplines

Salary

Carta’s compensation package includes a market competitive salary, equity for all full time roles, exceptional benefits, and, for applicable roles, commissions plans. Our minimum cash compensation (salary commission if applicable) range for this role is: 

  •  $217,500 - $290,000 in San Francisco, CA

Final offers may vary from the amount listed based on geography, candidate experience and expertise, and other factors.
