The Role: At Cart.com, we're transforming warehouse and order management systems (WMS/OMS) through our Jazz team. Our focus is on delivering solutions based on the Django stack and prioritizing agile project delivery using Kanban methodologies. We're currently looking for an Engineering Manager to lead the Jazz team, blending technical leadership with project management to ensure timely delivery of top-notch software solutions. What You’ll Do: Lead and mentor the WMS/OMS engineering team, fostering collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Manage project timelines and deliverables, utilizing Kanban methodologies to maintain efficient workflows and drive continuous improvement. Offer technical guidance and support to engineers, resolving challenges and ensuring project milestones are achieved. Collaborate with project managers, designers, and stakeholders to define project goals and scope. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development discussions with team members. Advocate for best practices in software development, including code reviews, testing strategies, and deployment processes. Coordinate with other engineering teams and stakeholders to align priorities and encourage cross-functional collaboration. Identify opportunities for process improvements, tooling enhancements, and automation to boost team productivity. Lead by example, embodying company values and nurturing a positive team culture. Who You Are: You are proficient in Microsoft Excel at an advanced level You possess strong analytical skills You possess excellent verbal and written communication skills You consider yourself detail-oriented You consider yourself self-directed You possess strong time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks; able to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment. You possess the ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. What You’ve Done: 3 years of engineering management experience in a software development setting. Solid technical background with hands-on experience in web application development using the Django stack. Proven expertise in agile project management methodologies, particularly Kanban. Strong leadership and communication skills, adept at collaborating with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Experience coaching and mentoring engineers to foster their growth and development. Proficient problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to overcoming technical and organizational challenges. Ability to excel in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Nice to Haves: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
