Summary

Responsible for the coordination of clinical activities of the Wound Care Center. These include, but are not limited to, utilization of skills in organization, planning, implementing, evaluating, and providing care through the use of hospital and nursing standards.

Responsibilities

1. Performs recommended wound care as requested by physicians. 2. Provides case management to a group of patients providing specific assessments according to protocols and procedures, clinical competence in procedural skills, treatments, and patient/caregiver education related to wound care management, and acts as patient advocate in delivery and coordination of patient care.3. Provides efficient and effective care with the guidance of the physician during the clinic sessions, attends the clinics where scheduled and is dependable. Able to manage a number of patients at the same time with high energy and organization.4. Collaborates with other health care providers, wound care center Physicians, Program Director and Medical Director, regarding clinic and patient needs.5. Consistently follows established standards, policies and procedures in providing nursing care.6. Accepts accountability for clinical care of assigned patients., 7. Communicates the plan of care to the patient and his or her family.8. Performs competently those technical skills considered basic to the type of care given on that unit.9. Identifies patient teaching needs and provides elementary instructions for the patient and his or her family.10. Responds appropriately in urgent and/or emergency situations.11. Ability to act independently and make decisions under stress as necessary.12. Supports standards of nursing care through adherence to existing policies and procedures.13. Demonstrates customer oriented approach through the expression of respect and understanding when communicating with others. 14. Must be able to maintain confidentiality. Tact and courtesy are required at all times.15. Maintains professional competence through formal education, workshops and specific education. Completes unit mandatory education.16. Assists in teaching individual patients and patients in groups in established programs.17. Seeks guidance when encountering nursing procedures and responsibilities that have not been mastered.18. Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Nevada or current interim permit.2. Current BLS certification.3. Wound Care Certification preferred.4. Medical Surgical, home health, or wound care preferred.5. Comfortable working with computers. Must be able to use Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, and Excel, as well as web- based database programs and the Internet.6. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.7. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.8. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.ACCOUNTABILITYRegistered Nurse is accountable for the oversight of the clinical practice, outcomes and success of the Wound Care Center.
