About the Position

The Accounting Specialist is responsible for assigned duties in the areas of accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll and benefits, and other related administrative duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain Invoices email, including processing weekly accounts payables
• Process monthly Credit Union billing and deliver (mail or email) invoices to customers. Responsible for outstanding AR maintenance and follow up.
• Assist accounting function by preparing monthly and other journal entries as needed
• Perform chapter accounts bank reconciliations and prepare quarterly fund statements for the Carolinas CU Foundation.
• Prepare ACH templates and upload them to the banking website for approval.
• Assist with shared branching network activities, which include billing, branch set up, answering participant questions, and participating in monthly trend reporting
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Skills, and Requirements:

• Professional interpersonal skills to work responsibly with CCUL staff and credit union members.
• Ability to make appropriate decisions within the scope of assigned duties.

Education, Training and Experience

• Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting
• 2-5 years of experience in similar or related work.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Requires understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and current rules and regulations.
• Requires strong Excel skills, to include preparation of spreadsheets with non-routine formulas.
• Other hard skills.
