Job Summary

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. In this position, you will help plan, organize, and implement a comprehensive activities program; so creativity and sensitivity are key elements of this position, and may take precedence over previous experience.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job. 
  • Coordinate and plan engaging activities forresidents
  • Build trusting, professional relationships withpatients, families, and Care Partners.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor whilefacilitating activities as scheduled on the calendar.
  • Engage with residents in both small and largergroup activities.
  • Assess individual resident interests and conveythem to the Activities Manager.
  • Have a willingness to assist residents withtheir personal preferences for daily activities.
  • Capable of collaborating with other departmentsto conduct meaningful resident engagement.
  • Provide engaging and personalized one-on-onetime with residents.
  • Aide with documentation of assessments,participation records, and other information as required by the ActivitiesManager.
  • Assist in the creation of community flyers andevent postings.
  • Rally residents to activities to ensure maximumengagement.
  • Maintain an upbeat and positive attitude whileleading and assisting with activities.
  • Ability to empathize and attend to residentconcerns.
  • May assist residents with some activities ofdaily living.
  • Ability to move/lift equipment and assistresidents into and out of vehicles, as well as help with ambulation.
  • May provide some transportation using companyvehicles.
  • Have some computer literacy to assist with flyersand newsletter publication, and some graphics knowledge

Safe Working Program

  • Report any accidents, injuries or violations of company safety rules.
  • Meet all training requirements within the first 30 days of employment.
  • Follow standard precautions and practice all precautionary measures related to contagious disease and infections.
  • Wear appropriate clothing and shoes for your job.

Physical Demands:

    • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel; and talk or hear.
      The employee is occasionally required to, stoop, kneel, bend over, reach overhead, push, and pull.
    • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and ability to adjust focus.
    • The employee is required to have visual and hearing acuity sufficient enough to assess employee and resident safety and ability may be required to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.

Work Environment

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
    • Requires patience in working with Senior Residents in the range of 60-100 plus years of age.
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • At times, may be required to work outdoors.
    • May include exposure to dogs, cats or other pets.

Qualifications

  • Communication Skills
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
    • Interact well with our Carlton Family – residents, family members, all staff members, future residents.
  • Reasoning Ability
    • Ability to apply common sense understanding and carry out written or oral instructions.
  • Education and Experience
    • High School diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent experience.
    • 1 year of experience running group activities is preferred, but not required
    • According to Title 22 requirements, employee must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
  • Certificates, License, Registration
    • Current First Aid Certification (obtained through community)
    • DOJ and FBI fingerprint clearance must be completed prior to working in community (obtained through community)
    • Health screening and negative TB test, must be less than six (6) months old. (obtained through community.
    • Clean DMV record.
