Job Description: We are seeking an energetic and experienced Director of Food Services to oversee our school's dining program, which serves breakfast and lunch each day. The Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of the food service program and ensuring that nutritious and delicious meals are provided to our students in compliance with federal and state regulations. The ideal candidate will be passionate about promoting healthy eating habits, fostering a positive dining experience, and enhancing the overall well-being of our school community.Responsibilities:•Menu Planning and Nutritional Oversight: -Develop and implement a diverse menu that meets federal nutritional guidelines and aligns with the dietary needs of students. -Regularly review and update menus to incorporate seasonal ingredients, cultural diversity, and student preferences.•Kitchen Management: -Supervise kitchen staff to ensure efficient and healthy food preparation. -Oversee inventory management, procurement, and budgeting to maintain cost-effective operations while adhering to quality standards. -Implement food safety protocols and sanitation procedures to uphold health and safety regulations.•Community Engagement: -Foster positive relationships with students, parents, faculty, and staff to understand all dietary needs, preferences, and feedback. -Collaborate with teachers and administrators to integrate nutritious food options that support the school’s vision and promote healthy lifestyle choices. -Participate in community events, workshops, and initiatives to raise awareness about nutrition and wellness.•Compliance and Reporting: -Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations governing school food programs, including reimbursement and documentation. -Prepare and submit reports, certifications, and audits as required by MA Department of Education and federal agencies and funding sources. -Stay informed about industry trends, legislative changes, and best practices in school food service management.•Continuous Improvement: -Monitor meal participation rates, student satisfaction, and nutritional outcomes to identify areas for improvement and innovation. -Implement strategies to reduce food waste, promote sustainability, and optimize resource utilization. -Conduct regular evaluations and performance reviews to assess the effectiveness of food service operations and drive continuous improvement initiatives.Qualifications:•An Associate or Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Culinary Arts, Food Service Management, or a related field is preferred•ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification or equivalent required.•Minimum of 5 years of experience in food service management, preferably in a school or institutional setting.•Strong understanding of nutrition principles, dietary guidelines, and meal-planning techniques.•Proficiency in kitchen operations, menu development, and budget management.•Excellent communication, management, and interpersonal skills.•Physical demands may include continuous lifting, standing, manual dexterity, walking, handling, bending, pushing, pulling, and constant visual assessment. With an occasional need for climbing and squatting.
