  • Lead and coordinate, under the direction of the President, the activities related to the College’s infrastructure, administrative computing, educational technology and innovation.

  • Reports to: President
  • Principal Working Relationship: President, Vice President of Academic Services, Vice President of Student Development, Associate Vice President of Institutional Resources, Technology Services Staff, Faculty, Staff, Student and Instructional Technology Committee
Primary Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain the college Information Security Program.
  2. Develop and maintain the college’s network design and topology.
  3. Implement security best practices in order to provide for the confidentiality and integrity of the college’s data.
  4. Develop and maintain IT governance model to plan and prioritize IT projects. Lead the IT college wide committee.
  5. Implement and maintain the college’s end user (students, faculty, and staff) information security training and continuous monitoring programs.
  6. Oversee planning and development of distance learning for college district.
  7. Oversee and lead planning and implementation of instructional technology initiatives
  8. Develop and maintain the college’s Technology Master Plan.
  9. Provide leadership for long range planning of enterprise resource planning and software development
  10. Serve as a resource for the Faculty Teaching Learning Center in supporting faculty members on best practices for course design and technology integration.
  11. Oversee the college’s network and data infrastructure.
  12. Serve as co-chair of the IISA committee.
  13. Oversee and participate in technical projects and tasks pertaining to the college data transmission systems (i.e. Internet, LAN/WAN, Administrative Computer System) and PC/peripheral support services.
  14. Provide leadership for college technology including administrative computing, IT security, technical infrastructure and reporting, and user support
  15. Provide leadership and supervision to the Information Services and Computing Programming services for the college.
  16.  Provide training to staff by demonstrating proper use of equipment and materials and the performance of specific tasks to meet quality standards.
  17. Evaluate and provide frequent feedback to the Executive Director of Information Services and Executive Director of Administrative Computing/Programmer, including but not limited to; yearly and probationary evaluations.
  18. Supervise all IT staff and provide feedback on training needs and opportunities for growth; develop staffing plan to support strategic growth
  19. Lead establishment of disaster recovery and continuity planning in consultation with cabinet backup/restore services.
  20. Develop and maintain the College’s information assurance and incident response plan.
  21. Serve as the point person for all legal aspects of IT/Data compliance regulations from local, state and federal agencies.
  22. Maintain and develop the college’s authentication and identity management systems.
  23. Develop and monitor annual operating budgets for the technology services functions.
  24. Develop budgeting plans and work collaboratively with cabinet to manage short- and long-term strategic enhancements to all area of information technology
  25. Provide technology-based professional development programs for all faculty and staff.
  26. Develop and maintain a district-wide technology replacement schedule.
  27. Recommend purchases of hardware/software/equipment for all areas of the college.
  28. Participate as the standing co-chair of the Instructional Technology Committee.
  29. Oversee and monitor the tech help and faculty teaching learning center personnel to ensure effective faculty and student support.
  30. Actively participate in departmental assessment i.e. strategic outcomes development and goal implementation based on the strategic plan.
  31. Develop, institute, and maintain information technology strategic plan
  32. Serve as the technology innovation leader for the college.
  33. Serve as the liaison between faculty, staff, administration and the public concerning information technology.
  34. Provide leadership to data reporting and programming requests.
  35. Communicate with college and develop excellent working relationships with key stakeholders
  36. Serve as the primary point of contact for IT vendors including Ellucian and ADP.
  37. Serve as a member of the Cabinet
  38. Other duties as assigned

Assists With:
  1. Special projects and reports as assigned by the president.
  2. Negotiations with external vendors.
  3. Strategic direction of the college be ensuring that technology is appropriate to strategic needs

Risk Management and Loss Prevention Activities:
  1. Actively participate in and carry out activities in support of the college Risk Management Program in a capacity appropriate to this position.
  2. Monitor conditions, events, and circumstances present in the college operation to avoid potential torts or injuries to students, staff, or the general public, and then communicate observations to the appropriate supervisor and/or Risk Management Committee.
  3. Maintain a working knowledge of the college’s emergency procedures and how to operate emergency phone systems; including internal/external call boxes.
  4. Monitor the backup procedures for protection of data and respond to violations of user’s agreement.
Minimum Necessary Education, Skills, and Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience providing end user IT services in a higher education environment. Master’s Degree preferred.
  2. Preferred certifications: Microsoft Servers, Microsoft Certified Professional, Cisco, and Ethical Hacker.
  3. Supervisory experience required.
  4. Good organizational and time management skills.
  5. Working knowledge of technology operations including wired and Wireless Network Technologies, Virtual Server Management, Disaster Recovery, Data Security and Privacy, IT Personnel Management, Strategic Technology Planning.
  6. The ability to communicate successfully with clients of all ages, socio-economic status, gender, or race.
  7. Broad knowledge of innovative methodologies, strategies and tools, including technologies that support engaged learning and the needs of students.
  8. Exhibit integrity and professionalism.
  9. Spanish or French proficiency preferred.
 Physical Requirements to Perform Job Functions:
  1. The specific motor skills and sensory perception necessary to effectively instruct and support students and faculty within a particular instructional program.
  2. General physical effort required includes some lifting, bending and reaching.
  3. Basic dexterity skills (computer work, telephone and other office equipment)
  4. Must be physically able to pack, lift, carry and transport equipment and materials as needed (20 lbs. or less) and the ability to place work orders for anything over that limit.
