Systems Engineer III

OVERVIEW

Caribou Thunder is seeking a Systems Engineer III to support a national defense contract. This role will perform Systems Engineering functions such as requirements decomposition and interface definition as part of the product team.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE 

• Bachelor’s degree in STEM plus 5 years of experience
• OR Master’s in STEM degree plus 3 years of experience
• OR PhD and zero years of experience

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform Systems Engineering functions such as requirements decomposition and interface definition as part of the product team. The hardware and software products enable tactical or flight test launch and support interceptor lifecycle activities such emplacement in silos, periodic maintenance, and software upgrade. The product architecture must be extensible to accommodate additional interceptor types and must be scalable to support large missile fields hosting a mixed fleet of interceptors.
• This team follows an Agile framework using Jira and Confluence to manage their backlog and document progress. This is not a telework/remote position.
• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
• Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong understanding of the Systems Engineering 'V' and be capable of performing engineering analysis, requirements allocation, requirements decomposition without supervision.
• Experience working using DOORS.
• Experience using Atlassian Tools.
• Familiar with Agile terminology and best practices.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working on Missile Defense programs
• Familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Cameo
• Familiar with automated software requirements testing and analysis
• Familiar with Software Containerization and Orchestration

Familiar with DevSecOps and Jenkins continuous integration/continuous delivery and deployment (CI/CD) automation
