CareWell Health is Hiring a Manager, Joint and Spine Surgical Service Line Near East Orange, NJ

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of Director of Perioperative Services, the Manager, Joint and Spine Surgical Service Line, will provide a comprehensive coordination of care for patients and their families/caregivers. The Manager will eliminate barriers to timely care, facilitate optimal process flow through system, facilitate interactions to increase patient and provider satisfaction, serve as point of contact with providers, and serve as the first point of contact for patients and families for CareWell Health’s Joint and Spine surgical service line.

This role requires a demonstrated level of success in managing complex clinical operations.

Essential Functions:

  1. Responsible for the overall success of the service line
  2. Oversees the planning, scheduling, and implementation of day-to-day clinical activities and procedures for navigated patients.

      2. Maintaining internal case calendar
      3. Obtaining Operative Reports
      4. Coordinating cases with each respective vendor (implants, trays. Biologics)
      5. Ensures Bill only sheets get to the appropriate parties within 24 hours
      6. Coordination with surgeon’s offices, Care Center, vendors, and attorneys as needed.
      7. Ensures all necessary documentation is obtained.
    1. Develops exceptional relationships with CWH surgeons
    2. Ensures all program patients are treated as VIPs
    3. Oversee coordination with Inpatient Nursing to continue to deliver VIP care inpatient
    4. Actively participates with Business Development in the recruitment of new surgeons
    5. Makes recommendations to management for growth and expansion of program to include capital needs
    6. Maintains master schedule to ensure coordination between doctors, anesthesia, lab and Revenue Cycle
    7. Coordinates processes and routes all paperwork as required to meet physician and facility requirements
    8. Documents work processes as required
    9. Works with Cerner Project Management team to ensure proper preference cards are built properly
    10. Works with Informatics to schedule training of new physicians
    11. Works with Informatics on Operative report templates and ensures report is completed within 24 hours of surgery
  1. Work with Nursing, Supply Chain, Case Management and Physicians.
  2. Central point of contact for all navigated patients; including interaction with medical, nursing, ancillary services.
  3. Track supply order completion and follow up.
  4. Assist patients with referrals to outside resources and care coordination as needed.
  5. May participate in the orientation, training and evaluation of new staff.
  6. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
  7. Designs or participates in the creation of health education materials.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Certifications:

• Associates Degree

Minimum Work Experience:

Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in perioperative services and/or surgical ambulatory centers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

• Ability to determine appropriate course of action in more complex situations

• Ability to work independently, exercise creativity, be attentive to detail, and maintain a positive attitude

• Ability to manage multiple and simultaneous responsibilities and to prioritize scheduling of work

• Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information

• Ability to complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing

• Ability to handle difficult situations involving patients, physicians, or others in a professional manner

Working Conditions:

  • May be required to sit for long periods of time.
  • May be required to kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, reach or climb.
  • May be required to stand or walk, for a good portion of the workday.
  • May be required to exert significant force to push, pull or lift objects or move patients.
  • May be subject to on rot more of the following conditions: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases or poor ventilation.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, biological or chemical hazards.
  • May be subject to extreme temperature conditions indoors and/or outdoors, such as extreme heat or cold and exposure to weather elements.
  • May be required to operate machinery or equipment.
  • Exposed to unpleasant odors, and communicable diseases.
  • Encounters stress, crisis, emergencies, and death.
  • Lifts some equipment/supplies.
  • Interacts with family, visitors, health team members and other hospital and referral agency
  • In an office space, interacts daily with managers, all nursing and ancillary personnel.
  • Will be covering alternate shifts as requested. Shift differential does not apply to day shift.
