Resp & Qualifications

PURPOSE:

The Manager, Strategy and Communications develops the communication plans that produce effective messages, using a variety of communication channels, to reach and influence stakeholders. Manage the creative development of all related communication collateral. Manage the communications team to implement communication strategy and underlying plans.

This role also provides support in areas of Executive and Board Support, Annual Plan (Plan), Culture, Divisional Events, Change Management, and Project and Program Coordination. The position is responsible for managing the day-to-day strategy and planning of the department including maintaining division priorities, internal and external communication, reporting, and analysis relating to the division, and collaborations and special projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Communications: 

  • Lead the strategic planning and development of all communication materials and events for the Division. Create department communications for both internal and external usage. Create communication that fosters a culture of collaboration and cohesion among different departments, facilitating enhanced visibility and synergistic work practices across the organization. Prepare for executive and Board meetings that draw together key documents and oral history; synthesize and compress key issues and recommendations.Coordinate content development contributions of subject matter experts to communications deliverables. Leverage and improve existing communication channels. Identify new and more effective communication channels and methods, such as video, podcasts and blogs to effectively communicate messaging to target audience(s). Craft compelling messages, case studies, and updates across various communication channels (e.g., newsletters, presentations, town halls), ensuring clarity, consistency, and engaging content. Collaborate with department heads to understand and visualize relevant KPIs, ensuring communication is data-driven and connected to strategic priorities. Implement and manage a feedback mechanism to gauge the effectiveness of internal communication strategies, making data-informed adjustments as needed.

Culture, Event planning, Project/Change Management: 

  • Establish and drive strong Division culture.Create and manage Division events to support culture and collaboration.Support strategic enablement team with special projects and change management for large scale efforts. 

Management Responsibilities

  • Hiring, mentoring and training; performance reviews, time reporting, and travel expense oversight. Additionally, develop and maintain annual budget, business continuity documentation, service catalogs and other corporate requirements; report monthly performance metrics and participate in management meetings and forums.

Develop Annual Strategic Plan for the Division: 

  • Track progress against the plan on a quarterly/monthly/ad hoc basis.Deliverables include dashboards and detailed reports designed to monitor and encourage delivery against milestones contained in the divisions operational and strategic plan, including monitoring and analysis of key performance indicators.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Public Relations or related field OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.

Experience:

  • 5 years Strategic communications experience, conference, event planning, event marketing or production experience.
  • 1 year Supervisory experience or demonstrated progressive leadership experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):

  • A proven track record for superb written and oral communications; excellent proofreading and editing skills, and a passion for creating engaging and relevant web and print content.
  • A proven ability to write with varying tone and the ability to translate technical and industry jargon into copy that is of interest to the reader.
  • A keen attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks simultaneously; sometimes under pressure and often tight deadlines.
  • Ability to establish strong relationships across departments and an understanding of client needs, the consumer experience, marketing strategy and operational capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and be able to manage multiple projects with time sensitive deadlines.
  • An understanding of graphic design, print production and electronic communications.
  • Exceptional oral and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet targeted deadlines.

Salary Range: $94,160 - $174,785

This compensation range is specific and considers factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilites of the position, the candidate's work experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market and business consideration. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range, as compensation decisions depend on each case's facts and circumstances, including but not limited to experience, internal equity, and location.
