The GTM Strategy, Intelligence & Planning team is responsible for aligning efforts across BUs, Geos, GTM functions in developing and executing on strategy and an integrated Go-To-Market Plan that drives business performance and customer satisfaction.

The Manager Data & Analytics, Planning is a key role within the GTM Strategy, Intelligence and Planning team. You will help orchestrate the planning process, support development and execution of sustainable strategies to transform VMware’s planning and GTM, accelerate growth and drive business goals. You will be successful in this role if you are passionate about using data and analytics to solve complex strategic challenges.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

You will lead and contribute to on-going initiatives within GTM and help VMware on its ongoing journey to SaaS. Specifically:

• Develop a detailed understanding of VMware GTM strategy and planning
• Build strong relationships with GTM, business unit and functional stakeholders and use these relationships to build and maintain GTM planning and execution alignment
• Build knowledge and understanding of VMware’s reporting practices and data sources, structures, availability and limitations, and use this knowledge to perform analyses in support of high-impact strategic initiatives
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on unified GTM performance reporting, model development & insights to support executive decision-making
• Work in a cross-functional collaborative culture to drive data continuity, consistency, & insights.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

The successful candidate is relentlessly execution-focused. You will have a high-level of proficiency with Excel, Tableau, Salesforce and our data warehouse/SAP/SQL. You will work collaboratively to frame hypotheses, gather, and analyze data, develop options and recommendations, and support strategy and planning execution.

Much of the work requires:

• Highly motivated, self-starter, strategic/analytical thinker with a “can-do” attitude, flexibility to accommodate evolving business needs and a keen eye for details
• Strong strategic and analytical skills: ability to analyze GTM data and trends effectively to support fact-based decision-making
• Detailed reporting and data presentation skills to provide both high level summaries and deeper analyses, including preparing executive-level documents
• Excellent collaboration, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
• Evaluating industry trends, technological shifts, and market dynamics and perform insightful internal and external research, benchmarking, and analytics

What is leadership like for this role? What is the structure and culture of the team like?

The Hiring Manager for this role is the VP, GTM Strategy, Intelligence and Planning. She has a small team of direct reports and is based in Palo Alto. This role will work closely with the GTM Strategy team, which is composed of ex-consultants and strategy professionals with expertise in strategy development and transformation in high-tech organizations. The team is empowered to collaborate with a broad set of cross-functional stakeholders to quickly drive results and impact.

The overall team has 35 team members in various locations.
